Benefits of Preplanning

Make Your Wishes Known

During a time of loss, families are often left trying to make decisions without knowing exactly what their loved one would have wanted. Preplanning removes uncertainty and prevents unnecessary stress or disagreements by clearly documenting your wishes for services, burial or cremation, and cemetery arrangements.

Peace of Mind for You and Your Family

Once your plans are in place, you’ll know your arrangements will be carried out exactly as you directed. Your family will be free to focus on remembering, honoring and healing — rather than making difficult choices under pressure.

Secure Cemetery Property in Advance

Preplanning gives you the opportunity to select and purchase cemetery property in advance, including individual spaces, companion plots or family burial plots within Azleland Memorial Park & Cemetery — which is on the same grounds as our family funeral home. This ensures your family can remain together and removes the urgency of making these decisions later.

Flexible Funding Options

Planning ahead gives you more flexibility in how arrangements are funded. Options may include preneed insurance, life insurance or other payment plans — helping protect your family from unexpected expenses at the time of need.

Relieve the Burden on Loved Ones

After a loss, families are often faced with dozens of decisions in a very short period of time. By making those choices in advance, you remove a significant emotional and logistical burden, allowing your loved ones to focus on healing rather than planning.

Common Questions about Preplanning

  • What steps are involved in prearranging a funeral?

The first step is simply to think about and write down your wishes. This may include whether you prefer burial or cremation, the type of service you envision and your cemetery preferences. Even if you are unsure about some of these decisions, our prearrangement counselors are here to help. We invite you to schedule a time to meet with us, so we can explain your options, review service and merchandise choices and discuss available payment options.

  • What information do I need to prearrange a funeral?

You will need some basic personal information for yourself or the person you are planning for, such as date of birth, marital status and parents’ full names. You will also make choices about burial or cremation, the type of service you would like and cemetery arrangements. Our caring staff will guide you through each step and help make the process simple and comfortable.

  • Do I have to pay in advance?

Preplanning allows you to document your wishes, but it does not require advance payment. That said, many families choose to pre-fund their arrangements to ease the financial burden on loved ones and gain added peace of mind.

  • Can I transfer my plans to or from another funeral home?

Yes. If you have existing arrangements at another funeral home and would like to transfer them to us, we will assist you with the process. Likewise, if you move out of the area and wish to transfer your plans elsewhere, we are happy to help ensure a smooth transition.
