Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 5:00PM - 8:00PM at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 beginning at 10:00AM at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home with interment to follow at Azleland Cemetery & Memorial Park.
Wilson Irvine Carter was born January 28, 1941, in Nellysford, Nelson County, Virginia. He lived with his mother and father and was the oldest of 2 boys. At the young age of 15, and without a driver’s license he worked for the school district as a bus driver. Wil also delivered newspapers for the local Nelson County newspaper.
Wil joined the United States Marine Corp on August 17, 1959, where he proudly served his country honorably and faithfully for 17 years, also serving in the Vietnam War.
In 1973, Wil met the love of his life Patricia Kelly while working as a manager at Pizza Hut in Chula Vista, California. Wil and Patricia were married on September 1, 1974. He was a proud father of 5 children, Randy, Scott, Bobby, Michelle and Paul. Wil lived with his family in Fort Worth, Texas where he began working in pest control. Wil completed studies at Tarrant County College in Business where he later opened and ran his own successful pest control company for 26 years.
Wil had a passion for crafting projects such as leather work and making personalized decorative solar lighting. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and road trips along with attending his grandchildren’s activities and watching them excel in their sports. He loved his family and friends with the deepest of love and could bring a smile and laugh to anyone in the room.
Wil is proceeded in death by his parents, Bill and Alice Carter; and son, Scott Carter.
He will be deeply and lovingly missed by his wife, Patricia Carter; children, Randy Carter, Robert "Bobby" Smith and wife, Kim, Michelle Smith and fiance, Darrin Goodwin, and Paul Carter and wife, Jill; grandchildren, Brendon Smith,Thomas and Hudson Smith, Chris Morrison, Alyssa Shaw, Lauren Swank, Zachary Carter, Kaytlyn Andrews, Kyler Carter and Makayla Carter; brother, Wayne Carter; aunt, Polly Truslow; marine brother & lifelong friend, Lester Carroll; and numerous friends.
