Thomas Joseph O’Donnell

1958 - 2022

Lifelong Newtown Square, Pennsylvania resident Thomas Joseph O’Donnell, 63, passed away April 23, 2022, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Thomas was born on December 29, 1958, in Philadelphia, PA to John and Jessica O’Donnell as the youngest of their five children.

Thomas graduated from Marple Newtown High School in 1976 and joined the United States Air Force where he served during the Cold War in England. After he returned home from Service, he worked for SEPTA driving Trolleys and Busses in the city of Philadelphia, which he loved to talk about.  He retired from the United States Postal Service with over 30 years of service where he said his greatest enjoyment was talking to all the people on his routes over the years.  He often said, through everything, his greatest achievement and proudest part of his life was his ability to raise his son as a single father from day one who he devoted every waking moment too until he was old enough to leave the nest.  He was a great father and grandfather that kept bestowing knowledge and offering wisdom and encouragement to his son and grandchildren wherever and whenever he could.  He moved to Texas after retirement to stay close to all his grandchildren who were is entire world.  He would cheer on their successes as well as help them stand up, dust off, and try again when they fell. If there was anyone that was built to be a father and grandfather, it was Thomas. 

He is survived by his sister, Evelyn and her husband Art Pecht; son, Patrick and his wife Amber O’Donnell; and his six grandchildren, Aideen LeClair, Maddison Milligan, Thomas O’Donnell, Tristyn Milligan, Christopher Dilday, and Paisley O’Donnell, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Margret Campbell, brothers Bernard and John O’Donnell, and Granddaughter Aislyn O’Donnell.

Memorial services will be held for Thomas on Saturday April 30th, 2022, at Azle and Lake Worth Funeral Chapel.  We will be receiving guests at 1pm, with memorial service to follow at 2pm.
