Russell Scott Joiner 1962-2021

Russell Scott Joiner, 59, a retired truck driver, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, in Decatur, Texas.

Russell was born February 2, 1962 in Odessa, Texas to Robert and Jean Joiner. He graduated from Permian High School in 1980. Shortly after, Russell met the love of his life, Deborah, and they were wed on July 23, 1983 in Odessa, Texas.

The newlyweds moved to Fort Worth a year later where Russell began working for the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office as a Confinement Officer. He enjoyed what he did for many years but felt that it was not his true calling. Russell began driving locally for a concrete company and he was hooked. He spent nearly twenty years as a truck driver, enjoying his time on the open road and seeing a vast majority of the United States.

Russell enjoyed fishing, camping, and riding his motorcycle with his family and friends, but also found peace while sitting on the porch, watching the birds at the feeders.

Russell was preceded in passing by his parents.

SURVIVORS - His loving wife of 37 years, Deborah Joiner of Azle; son, Jeremy Joiner of Azle; daughter, Rebecca Joiner of Azle; son, Jeffery Joiner and wife, Katheryn, of Springtown; his favorite granddaughter, Sydney; sister, Cindy Tipton of Chester, Virgina; brother, Troy Joiner and wife, La Nita, of Odessa, Texas; and many other family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021, beginning at 10:00 am at the Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home Chapel, 850 North Cardinal Road, Azle, Texas 76020.
