Rogelio Martinez Obituary

Rogelio Martinez, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2021 after a courageous battle.

Rogelio, better known as Roy, was born on April 11, 1964 in Plainview, Texas to the late T.D. and Catalina Fernandez Martinez.  He grew up and graduated from Hart in 1982 before graduating from West Texas State in 1986.  Roy went on to have four beautiful children, Chelsee, Landry, Austin, and Caitlin.  Growing up, he was known as the “class clown” and that title didn’t shy in his later years; everyone around him was sure to have a smile on their face.  Roy spent many years coaching high school sports leading him to making a heavy impact on many people's lives.  Every Sunday, you could find him cheering on his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, which played a major role in his life.  Roy enjoyed rock music and if he saw you in a KISS shirt, you were sure to be a lifelong friend.  He worked hard for everything he had, and made sure his children never went without.  Roy’s love for his family was held at the highest and the pride he took in each of his children. Roy’s heart was truly stolen when his grandchildren arrived bringing so much joy to his life.  His faith never shied nor did his passion for God.  Roy’s giving heart, fearless personality, and spirited sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Roy has been reunited with his parents, T.D. and Catalina Martinez; brother, Mario Martinez; and two grandchildren he couldn’t wait to meet, in God’s Eternal Kingdom.

His memory will never fade in the hearts of his children, Chelsee Barragan and husband, Matthew, Landry Martinez and wife, Lyncon, Austin Martinez and wife, Karly, and Caitlin Morphew and husband, Tristan; spouse, Pam Martinez; siblings, Carlos Martinez and wife, Alicia, and Mary Garcia and husband, Chris; sister-in-law, Wynon Martinez; grandchildren, Ledger Martinez, Layton Martinez, Aubree Barragan, and Lola Barragan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who became family.

Although saddened, the family invites all to join for Visitation on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Chapel beginning at 12:00 PM with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00 PM.
