Robert Rex “Bob” Pike
1936 – 2022
Robert Rex “Bob” Pike of Saginaw, Texas was born on January 26, 1936, in Stillwater, Oklahoma and went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2022, in Fort Worth, Texas. He grew up on a farm outside of Stillwater, Oklahoma. In high school he joined the Oklahoma-Army National Guard, 45th Division, attached to the ANG unit in Stillwater. While he was a member of the ANG he volunteered for the draft and was drafted into active duty in the U.S. Army. He served on active duty from 1955 to 1957 and he was honorably discharged as a Motor Sargent with commendations as a rifle marksman. Robert was stationed at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas and Fort Benning, Georgia before ending his service in the patrol unit at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas. While in Fort Worth, he met Martha, his wife of 64 years. He worked as an electrical and refrigeration engineer for over 55 years.
Bob had farming in his blood and as a hobby he raised animals including, chickens, quail, pheasant, rabbits, donkeys, cattle, goats, and an emu. He enjoyed having a large garden even the last year of his life. Bob would find things that needed fixing and fixed them to resell. He had enjoyed restoring antique tractors and giving them new life.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Pike III; his parents, Robert Pike and Lydia Swart Pike; his sister, Deloris Pike Venn; and his brother, James Pike.
Bob will be deeply and lovingly missed by his wife, Martha Crownover Pike; his daughter, Judy Smith and her husband, James of Fort Worth; his two grandsons, Joshua Ryan Smith and wife, Mackenzie of High River, Alberta, CA and Jordan Riley Smith and wife, Amy of Austin, Texas; three great granddaughters, Adeline, Caroline “Tillie” and Rylie Smith; one great grandson, Finton “Finn” Smith; his brother, Sherman Dennis “Denny” Pike and wife, Karen of Aledo; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM.
