Paula Edwards Obituary

Paula Ann Edwards, 66, went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2022.  She was born on June 13, 1955.  Even as a child, Paula was always so giving and never ceased to lend a helping hand.  Paula thrived as a mother.  She was a room mom, PTO mom, and team mom.  Even with all of her extra activities she still found the time to share her love for country music with her children by taking them to concerts.  Although Paula loved her children dearly, her heart was truly full when she became a Nana.  Her grandchildren were her everything.  She would drop everything at moments notice to make any event, big or small.  Paula built a special bond with each one of her grandchildren.  She showed her love in many different ways like shopping for them non-stop, but aggravation was definitely part of her love language, especially when it came to her youngest granddaughter, Abigail. Paula loved to pick at her just so she could see her little attitude arise.

Paula loved to laugh.  Once she started, it spread like wildfire to those in her presence.  Her smile could light up a room during the darkest times.  She also never failed to give a hug for as long as you needed, never questioning but continuing to love you.

Paula cared for her elderly Mother despite the troubles she faced with her own health. They often visited the cemetery to spend time with their loved ones who had passed and make sure their headstones were decorated for each holiday to ensure they were gone but never forgotten.  After, the two would enjoy a meal together and stop by different yard sales.  Paula also cared for her ex-husband when he fell ill until his passing.

Paula loved the simple things in life such as handmade gifts, hot bubble baths, and ice cold coke. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family, but always preferred her son-in-law, Kevin’s, cooking over everything.  Paula loved watching Fried Green Tomatoes and Steal Magnolia, even though she would cry every time she watched them.

She missed her daughter, Tracie, and son, Lynn, who had both passed prior to her, dreaming of the day she would be reunited with them, but still fought until the very end so she wouldn’t have to leave her daughter and grandchildren.  Even after her passing, Paula still continues to spread her love through little notes she had place sporadically throughout the house for her daughter to find.

Paula was more than just a mother, Nana, and friend.  She was an angel.  She was a provider. Paula was loved by so many and will be missed dearly.

She has been reunited with her daughter, Tracie Herring; son, Derrell Lynn Smith; father, Derrell D. Downey; brother, Michael Ray Smith; and granddaughter, Kammie Magness, in God’s Eternal Kingdom.

Paula’s heart of gold will live on through her daughter, Kimberley Magness and husband, Kevin; mother, Pauline Downey; sister, Eva Mack and husband, Randy; brothers, Donald Smith and wife, Isabell, and Ronald Smith; grandchildren, Gage Martin, Bruce Magness, Holly Magness, and Abigail Magness; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Azle and Lake Worth Funeral Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday at Azle and Lake Worth Funeral Chapel beginning at 2:00 PM.
