Mary Berryman Obituary

Mary Lynn Berryman

1944 - 2023

Mary Lynn Berryman, 78, of Saginaw, Texas passed away on March 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Waco, Texas to Robert and Alice (Ludwig) Wolf on August 2, 1944. She grew up in central Texas with her parents, brother, and sister. The Wolf family moved to Dallas in 1956 and she attended Kimball High School where she developed lifelong friendships and an appreciation for learning.  While living in Dallas, Mary Lynn met the love of her life, Boyd Berryman.

On August 18, 1962, Boyd and Mary Lynn married and bought their first home in Duncanville, Texas. They recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in August 2022, and they received a letter from Senator John Cornyn congratulating them on their lifelong marriage. They were true life partners and together they raised three daughters, Jill, Donna, and Robin. Boyd and Mary Lynn were Duncanville United Methodist Church members who served as youth ministers and accompanied the youth on numerous trips.  During this time, they both had an impact on many people's lives and built lifelong friendships.  Their daughter's friends always felt that their home served as a friendly refuge, as they were always welcome in their Duncanville family home. Mary Lynn made certain that all visitors had a hot meal to eat and an ear to bend if necessary.

Mary Lynn had been a stay-at-home mom for many years and was dedicated to her family and her daughters. She returned to work as a lunchroom lady at several schools in the Eagle Mountain Saginaw school district after the girls were grown and on their own. She worked for more than ten years and treated all the students as if they were her own. Mary Lynn always made sure that each student had a meal to eat, so no one ever left the cafeteria hungry.

While her girls were important to her, the stars hung the moon with her grandchildren. Mary Lynn had three grandsons, Stewart, Ben, and Sean, along with three granddaughters, Katie, Kendall, and Samantha.  She was known as Nana or Nini to the crew of six and she loved them in so many ways. As a family, they all enjoyed their annual beach trips to Surfside Beach, Texas where all thirteen of them stayed under one roof for a full week and they all enjoyed every minute of the trip. It was so much fun for them that the trip became an annual tradition for eight straight years.

Mary Lynn is survived by her loving husband, Boyd, of 60 years; their daughters and sons-in-law, Jill (Berryman) Lisle & Phil, Donna (Berryman) Svoboda & Stephen, and Robin Berryman; and her beloved grandchildren, Katie, Stewart, Kendall, Samantha, Ben, and Sean. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone and especially among her grandchildren. She always said, “A grandparent thinks about their grandchild every day and night and will love them in a way they will never understand.”
