Loyce Pulliam Obituary

Loyce Sam Pulliam

1947 - 2020

After a two and a half year battle, Loyce Louise Pulliam, better known as Mom, Granny, and Sam, passed away from cancer Tuesday evening, April 14, 2020. Her son Russell and his wife April were able to be by her side as she closed her eyes and went to sleep. She knew it was time to go home to see Jesus, her mama, and her daddy and was able to say goodbye to her children and grandchildren.

Sam was born on September 11, 1947 and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. She moved to Weatherford, Texas after High School and spent the majority of her adult life being a huge part of the community. Sam spent time coaching her son's youth soccer team and being a mom to many young boys. She owned and operated The Beene Pot restaurant for many years on the Weatherford Square. Sam was an amazing cook and made sure no one ever went without a home-cooked meal. For the past 20 years, Sam worked in the mortgage industry. She won countless awards for top call center manager and was known as Mama Sam to most of her co-workers.

Sam was a member of the South Main Church of Christ with her mother Mary for many years and made lifelong friends. However, she will be remembered most for being a mom to many misfit young boys, a firecracker of a friend who was never afraid to speak her mind, and above all, a loving granny to her five grandchildren and loving mom to her two sons Russell and Ken.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Major Edward Barbee. Sam is survived by her children, Ken Webb and Russell Pulliam; daughter-in-law’s, Sharon Webb and April Pulliam; grandchildren, Kristen, Symantha, Parker, Matalyn, and Jacob; and her companion, Roscoe whom she loved dearly.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at the Azleland Cemetery. As of now, the service is planned for June 13, 2020. (Due to current situations, the date may change) The family requests memorials are made to the Humane Society of North Texas (hsnt.salsalabs.org) as Sam loved her animals like children.
