In Loving Memory of John Phillip Pastre
1971 - 2023
On August 8, 2023, we lost one of God’s most giving and faithful servants, John Phillip Pastre. After a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer, John went to his heavenly home at fifty-two years of age. John was born in Newcastle, Pennsylvania on January 4, 1971 to Sandra and Charles Pastre. He followed the footsteps of his mother, Sandra L. Oxford, and started his own upholstery business, Pastre’s Custom Upholstery, in Azle, Texas at his family’s residence, “The Pastre Patch”. John took great pride in his work and enjoyed helping his customers as he brought their furniture, vehicles, RVs, and boats back to life.
John never met a stranger and would help anyone that he crossed paths with. John loved to be on the water, fishing, hunting, cooking for others, exploring and meeting new people during traveling and camping adventures, but more than anything he loved to be with his family and friends enjoying good food, each other’s company and laughter. John was known by many names like Johnny Boy, Jugging John, Best Buddy, Uncle John, Son, Brother, Husband, Dad, but the one he held closest to his heart was Papa (Poopa) from the sweet voices of his three grandsons.
Life will never be the same for anyone who ever was touched by his smile, laughter, and willingness to help at any moment. John is survived by his father Jerry Oxford, wife Jennifer Pastre, daughter Alyssa and her husband Ryan Silva, daughter Adrianna and her husband Taylor McDaniel, son Alex Pastre, and three beloved grandsons: Liam, Miles, and Jaxon. John is also survived by his siblings Cindy Hopkins, Randy Beck, Michael Pastre, Jennifer Pastre # 1, Debby O’Rourke, Sherry Davis, Lee Wallace Oxford, and Karlene Shanks. John’s Aunt Marilyn, many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends also feel this great loss.
A Celebration of Life for John will be held on October 7, 2023, at Azle Christian Church, 117 Church St. Azle, TX 76020, beginning at 11:00 AM.
