James Gordon Obituary

James Duane "Bo" Gordon passed away peacefully on July 3, 2021.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Chapel beginning at 1:00 PM with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 PM.  Interment will be held immediately after the service at Azleland Cemetery & Memorial Park.

James was born on September 15, 1946 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Worth to James Olin and Ruthie Faye Burch Gordon.  He grew up with his older brother, Sammy Joe and his two younger sisters, Brenda Marie and Mary Roselyn.  Bo's life started out hard; he was a breech, blue baby and lived a life where he faced many health problems.  Despite his pain, he always had a positive attitude and kept a sweet spirit.  Bo was raised in Samson Park where he attended Castleberry Schools graduating in 1965.  Throughout his life, he worked hard manual labor but was never one to complain.

His life changed in 1967 when he became an uncle.  Lee "Hoss," Anglea, Cari, Anson, Jayme and Alan were the lights of his life.  After his great niece and nephews arrived, he was even more joyous.  Makenzie, Tanner, River, Tyler, Cade, Ethan, Jhett, and Dylan made his heart truly full.

Bo always had a smile on his face and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  After the passing of his father, he became a constant helper and companion to his mother.  They moved to Ash Drive in Azle which led Bo to finding his true calling, volunteering at Azle Manor Nursing Home.  Bo helped with game nights and gave the residents encouragement by visiting with them for hours at a time.  He became the greeter at Ash Creek Baptist Church which fulfilled his Christian spirit.  Bo's family will be forever grateful to Coach Gaithwright who would pick Bo up and take him to church allowing him to bring joy to others.

When his mother passed away, he continued to live alone. As his health declined, he made the decision to move to Azle Manor, not as a helper but as a resident.  Bo enjoyed his time there and his family is extremely grateful to the nurses and staff who took such good care of him.

He is reunited with his parents, James Olin and Ruthie Faye, in Heaven.

Bo will be deeply missed by his siblings, Sam and Martha Gordon, Brenda and Melvin Barton, and Mary and Jim Laird; nephews and nieces, Lee Barton, Angela and Troy Snow, Cari Wood, Anson and Shelby Gordon, Jayme and Alex Brooks, and Alan and Ashley Gordon; great-nieces, Makenzie and Cameron Livingston, and Madison Brooks; great-nephews, Tanner and Tyler Snow, River, Cade, and Jhett Gordon, Ethan and Dylan Gordon; great-great- niece, Hayden Livingston; and a host of loving friends who lives he brought so much joy too.
