Gary Wayne Sessions

1948 – 2020

Rev. Gary Wayne Sessions, 71, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 12, 2020.  Gary was born on August 8, 1948 in Paragould, Arkansas to his parents Paul and Nancy Sessions.

After marrying his childhood sweetheart, Martha on August 9, 1968 Gary spent his life bringing the Gospel both in Word and song before retiring from ministry in 2014. Following retirement he found fulfillment in bringing compassion, peace, and understanding to those in need while serving as a licensed funeral director, fire fighter, and chaplain on the Bridgeport fire department.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Nancy Sessions.

Gary was the proud Dad to son, DeWayne Sessions and wife LeAnn of Bridgeport, TX; daughters, Marlene Torres and husband Alfred of Paradise, TX, and Teresa Bruggink and husband Nathan of Reston, VA. One of his greatest joys was being Papaw to six grandchildren: Kaitlin, Alex, Brandon, Cody, Nicolas, and Tristan, as well as six great grandchildren: Paisley, Cambri, Emmitt, Caden, Brandy, and Caroline who will join the family soon.

Gary was also survived by his siblings: Edwin Sessions and wife Anita; Richard Sessions and wife Brenda; Russel Sessions; and Lisa Woods and husband Carl.

A public visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5 PM to 8 PM at Azle and Lake Worth Funeral Home at 850 N. Cardinal Rd. Azle, Texas 76020.

For those that cannot come to the evening visitation, there will be a second visitation at the Twin Oaks Assembly of God Church at 300 Cates St. Bridgeport, Texas on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 1 PM to 2 PM.

Gary's Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Twin Oaks Assembly of God Church.

A procession to Azleland Cemetery will follow the service and interment will be held graveside.at 850 N. Cardinal Rd.  Azle, Texas 76020
