Frederick "Fred" Weaver
1934 - 2022
Fred Weaver, Jr. went to his heavenly home on April 22, 2022. He was born October 14, 1934. A lifelong resident of Azle, he graduated from Azle High School in 1953 where he was secretary of the FFA chapter and was elected senior class favorite.
Fred married his high school sweetheart Jacqueline Emanuel on September 3, 1954. He worked at Swift & Company for many years until its closing. He then began raising cattle. He was always deeply involved in church activities and completed Bible school through Word of Faith Bible Institute. In 1987 Fred became the founding pastor of Community Bible Fellowship. After his retirement as pastor, he remained an active member of the church through the rest of his life.
Fred was also active in the community. He was president of the Azle Ministerial Alliance, and was on the Board of Directors of Sonshine Ministries and of World Ministry Fellowship. He was a lifetime member of the Azle FFA Alumni Association, served on the Reno city council, and was a member of Aztex Saddle Club. Most recently he received the Community Builder Award from the Azle Lodge, A. F. & A. M.
Fred was deeply proud of his family history. He could trace his ancestry back to Lt. Col. John Walker, who was appointed Aide-de-Camp to General George Washington and served at Valley Forge. Several of his ancestors had moved to this area by the 1860’s and 70’s. His grandfather James Ross was born in a log cabin in the Azle area, and in 1904 became Azle’s first rural mail carrier. He delivered mail first on horseback, then in a buggy and later in a Model T Ford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Bessie Weaver, and by his son, Fred Weaver III.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Jacqueline Weaver. He was also survived by his son Clinton and wife LaDonnya, grandchildren Clint and wife Natalie and Cliff and wife Cassandra, and great-grandchildren Colton, Nolan, Charlie, Logan, and Abraham. He was also survived by his son Bryan and wife Crystal, and grandchildren Charity, Gracie, Gaven, and Caitlin.
Visitation will be held at Community Bible Fellowship on Tuesday, April 26th from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will also be held at Community Bible Fellowship on Wednesday, April 27th at 2 p.m. with graveside service following at Azleland Cemetery.
