Floyd Auvice Tate

Floyd was born in Corbitt, OK on December 5th, 1936 to Maudie May and Jesse Franklin Tate. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1953 and during this time, he was stationed in Japan, the Philippine Islands, James Connally AFB in Waco, TX and Vance AFB Enid OK as a heavy equipment operator. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force after 8 years. After his military service, Floyd and his family moved to Oklahoma City, where he began his truck driving career employed by the Fox Smythe trucking company. Floyd loved driving trucks and after driving for several different companies, retired from Roadway trucking, with 37 years of driving with more than 3 million miles on the road.
Floyd and Janell raised 5 boys, spanning over 30 years. In 1978 they purchased a home and 5 acres outside of Yukon, OK where they spent 17 years of their life together. In Floyd’s spare time, he went back to school and received a welding degree from the Canadian Valley Vo-Tech in El-Reno OK. He had a love for welding, and mechanics, building multiple attachments for his tractor and other equipment. He was also talented enough to design and build a flatbed trailer bed which he attached to a 1969 Plymouth Fury 3 sedan. His boys fondly nicked named this monstrosity “The Monster”. Floyd loved to vacation with his family to the Table Rock Lake in Branson MO, where he would occasionally fish and attend country music shows. Floyd had a love for country music, teaching his sons how to play the guitar and often spoke how he loved music of Merle Haggard.
Floyd was preceded in death by his mother Maudie May and father Jesse Tate. Wife Janell Tate, and son Stephen Sanders, along with 3 sisters and 5 brothers. Floyd is survived by his wife of 16 years Patricia Elise Tate of Paradise TX, sister Louretha Hunter of Norman OK, brother Rudy May of Wichita KS. Sons; Russell and wife Jannetta Tate of Mountain View OK, Mark and wife Shelly Tate of Weatherford OK, Delain and wife Emily Tate of Wilmington NC, Dale and wife Kelly Tate of Lake Dallas TX. Stepchildren; Glenn and wife Annette Guidry of Fort Worth, TX, Anthony and wife Teresa Pike of Joshua TX, Michael and wife Christy Pitts of Cleburne TX, Chad and wife Fleena Mason of Allerton IA. Floyd is also survived by 15 wonderful Grandchildren and 13 beautiful Great Grandchildren.
Floyd and Patricia Tate are members of the New Beginnings Church, Springtown TX. Viewing will be Thursday, Jan 2, 2020 from 6-8pm at Azleland Chapel 850 N. Cardinal Rd. Azle, TX 76020. Funeral Services to be held at 2:00pm on Friday, Jan 3, 2020 at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home. With graveside services to follow.
