Obituary

Eugene Milton Fenter

April 16th, 1931 - May 18th, 2023

Eugene “Chinky” Milton Fenter of Fort Worth, Texas, went home to his rest on May 18, 2023.

Born April 16, 1931, to Roy and Hazel Fenter of Jacksboro, Texas, Gene was the second-oldest of six siblings. On March 10, 1949, Gene married the love of his life, Billie Jean Porter. Over the course of their nearly 72-year marriage, Gene and Billie raised three sons, Terry, Larry, and Randy and built a life developing their talents, working, and serving others.

A hard-working man, Gene had many skills. From an early age, he ran his own construction company, Eugene Fenter Construction, building homes and businesses in Jacksboro, Texas. In 1966, Gene began working for General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas. In January 1967, the family moved to Fort Worth. Gene worked at G.D. through the fall of 1971, when he went to work for the family of James Parker, D.C. Later, he worked for the Parker Chiropractic Research Foundation and Share International. In 1982, Gene and Billie moved to California, where Gene worked for the Northrop Grumman Aerospace Corporation. They returned to Texas in 1985, when Gene rejoined General Dynamics. He retired from there in 1992. Wherever they were, Gene and Billie were always active in their church community and making friends.

In retirement, Gene was an avid gardener and carpenter. He took special pride in growing tomatoes and he could fix almost anything. He and Billie spent time traveling the country by road and marveling at the beauty of God’s creation. They doted on their five grandchildren and were incredibly proud of their seven great-grandchildren. Their home was always a place for good food and laughter.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Porter Fenter, whom he loved and cared for so well; his parents: Roy and Hazel Fenter; his brothers: Weldon and Truitt Fenter; and by his daughters-in-law, Kay Fenter and Gail Fenter. He is survived by his sons: Terry Fenter, and his wife, Belinda; Larry Fenter; Randy Fenter, and his wife, Karen; his siblings: Silva Spradling, Mark Fenter, and Virginia Fry, and their families; his grandchildren: Dan, and his wife, Stacy Fenter; Sheri Fenter; Michael Fenter; Marta Dugan and her husband, Kyle; Rachel Crawford and her husband, Adam; and seven great-grandchildren.

Gene was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was a generous friend and neighbor, always ready to jump in and help wherever he saw need. He was a gentle spirit with a strong faith and devoted heart, a faithful member of the Western Hills Church of Christ. While he will be missed by those who knew and loved him, we rejoice, knowing he is finally home, resting in the arms of the Savior he served so devotedly.

A Graveside Service will be held at Azleland Cemetery & Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, beginning at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christian Leader Renewal, 1207 Sugarberry Dr., Cedar Park, TX 78613 or to Chronic Illness Recovery, PO Box 10756, Fort Worth, TX 76114.
