Dusty Dawn Pickett

1959 - 2023

Dusty Pickett, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on April 9, 2023, at the age of 63. She was born on July 22, 1959, and was a woman of many talents and passions, known for her creativity, generosity, and unwavering patience.

Dusty had a natural gift for cooking, and she loved nothing more than sharing her delicious creations with the people she loved. She was also an avid quilter, painter, and ceramist, creating beautiful works of art that brought joy to all who saw them. Dusty's creativity extended to Halloween costumes, which were always a hit with her family and friends.

The beach, particularly Destin, Florida, was Dusty's happy place. She also found peace and fulfillment in gardening, and was particularly talented at it. One of her favorite places on earth was Archies Gardenland or Calloways, where she could indulge in her love of plants and nature.

Dusty had a passion for Westerns, old movies, and detective series, especially Perry Mason. She loved spending time with children and was incredibly good with them. Dusty was also known for her amazing gift-giving abilities, always able to find the perfect present for anyone.

Dusty was married to David Pickett for 36 amazing years, filled with happiness, adventure, travel, and raising and loving their children. She was a fearless protector of her children and treated everyone she met as if they were family.

Dusty had a prestigious career in mortgage banking, culminating as a revered Paralegal for the Disaster Relief Team at the Small Business Administration.

Dusty was preceded in death by her son, Tyler Mason Pickett; her brothers, Rex Brandon Alexander, Gorge Gordon and sister, Beverly Gordon; her father, Charles Turner Alexander, and grandparents, Joseph and Una Mae Stachmus and Lee and Maud Hollis.

She is survived by her husband, David Pickett; her mother, Ramona Hollis Alexander Gordon and Jay Gordon; her sister, Misty Malin and brother in law, Matt Malin and niece, Morgan Malin; her sister Carla, and brother in law, Mike Peveto, niece, Haley Peveto and niece in law, Chelsea Peveto; her bother Roe, and wife Nicole Gordon and their children; her brother Bruce, and wife Barbra Gordon and their children; her brother Jay Gordon and his children; her nephew, Brandon Chenoweth and niece in law, Jackie, and great nieces, Brandi and Larina; her nephews, Brandon and Adam Alexander, and niece, Sydney Clair Alexander; her niece, Michelle Mckrell, nephew in law, Jeff Mckrell and great niece, Olivia Batts; her son, Duane Pickett and future daughter-in-law, Kristi Pickett; her daughter, Mercedes Pickett Evans and son-in-law, Justin Evans, and her grandchildren, Lawton Tippns and Mason Evans; As well as her adopted children, Nichole Snyder Jimenez and son in law, Marco Jimenez; and Michelle Thom Jaquay and her husband. She also loved her dogs Buster, Rowdy, Paris, and Frosty.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy of love, creativity, and generosity will live on in the many lives she touched.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, beginning at 1:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM.

Interment will be held at Azleland Cemetery & Memorial Park immediately after the funeral service.
