Donna Hays-Applewhite

1949 - 2020

Donna Hays-Applewhite was born to Arthur William Hays and Reba Maxine Gibson-Hays in Wichita Falls,Texas on September 19, 1949. Donna went home to our Lord and Savior on February 23, 2020.  She leaves behind her loving husband Bobby Applewhite, of fifty-two plus years, her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jeff Wright of Azle, her son, Keith Applewhite of Azle,  her son and daughter-in-law Gary & Leslie Applewhite of Springtown, her daughter and son-in-law Carla & Dan Walsh of Azle, and her daughter and son-in-law, Casey and David Waters of Azle. Donna also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved and cherished, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.  

Donna lived a life of service to Christ and to those around her.  She was an active member of the Azle Church Of Christ for over 35 years. Donna taught many bible classes of all ages, and participated in several  mission trips. Donna, as a grandmother, went back to school and earned two bachelors degrees in Criminal Justice and Social Work. She worked for several years as a school counselor in public education, and over the last few years has been part of a Book Club, Canasta and Granny Gang with her sweet friends. Donna loved the beach, and took several trips to Port Aransas with her extended church family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Reba Hays, her brother Arthur Wayne Hays, her sisters and brother-in-laws Nancy & Buel Jacks, Cliff & Carol King, Kenny & Diane Milliorn and her life-long friends, Donna & Earl Dickey.

She touched so many lives and will be intensely missed.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday February 29, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Azle and Lake Worth Funeral Home Chapel, located at 850 N Cardinal Rd. Azle, Texas 76020
