Donald “Don” Wayne Bumgarner passed away peacefully on Friday February 21, 2020, surrounded by loved ones. Don was born on July 11, 1946 to his parents, Mildred and Gerald Bumgarner in the small farming town of Hays, Kansas. He spent his early years on the West Coast in Oregon and Washington, later returning to Kansas. Confirmed and Baptized at the age twelve at St. Rose Catholic Church in Kansas City. He also attended and graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1964.

Don joined the Air Force and ended up in Texas. While stationed at Carswell Air Force Base, he met an older woman, Janice. The two would later marry on the base in 1964. They settled in the suburbs of Fort Worth, ending up in White Settlement. Don and Jan celebrated 53 years of marriage, having three children and four grandchildren together.

Don was a  hard working and dedicated employee. Don spent over 35 years at PVI Industries, retiring in 2011. His passions and hobbies included history especially Military, Firearms, and Politics, being a proud member of the American Legion, National and Texas State Rifle Associations, and The White Settlement Historical Society. He loved museums, airshows and of course a good day at the range. In retirement, he enjoyed helping others. He joined the All Saints Episcopal Church in 2014 and helped make sandwiches for the Presbyterian Night Shelter. He spent some weekends doing Prison Missions and Assisting with noon-day prayer at Baylor All Saints Hospital. But most of all his joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife, Janice; his son, Daniel and his wife, Angela; his daughter, Anne and her husband Josh; his four grandchildren, Bethany, Drake, Emily, and Katie. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry and his wife, Janet; his sister in-law, Mary; his brother in-law, Lyle; his sisters in-law, Nancy and Linda and her husband, Rich; along with many nieces and nephews.

Don is preceded by his parents; his brother, Jack Walters; his infant son, John; and his nephews, Scott and Nathan.

A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 3:00pm at Azleland Cemetery, 850 N. Cardinal Rd., Azle, Texas.
