DeRay Herrin passed away on May 24, 2021.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Azle and Worth Funeral Chapel beginning at 2 PM.
DeRay was born on November 4, 1930 to Archie and Esther Herrin in Austin, Texas. He married Barbara Jean and together they raised four children. DeRay worked hard as a Carpet Layer to provide for his family, but in his free time he enjoyed a relaxing day of fishing or fiddling with one of the numerous cool cars and trucks that he had owned through the years. His passion for cars was strong, he would check the oil on a regular basis whether the car had been driven or not. DeRay was known to be quite the jokester; you never knew if he was serious or joking until you’d see the smirk on his face. Once you’d realize, he would get tickled and laugh. His smile and laughter were contagious. DeRay was known as “POPS” to all, but he in return had special nicknames for each person. He always made sure to take care of his family; someone was always living with him whether he liked it or not. DeRay was a loving father and grandfather. His caring ways and kind heart will always be remembered. “I love everybody and hope they are doing good.”
DeRay is preceded in passing by wife, Barbara Jean Herrin; parents; daughter, Rhonda Pack; granddaughter, Sherry Herrin; and grandson, Bobby Seery.
He will be deeply and lovingly missed by his children, Danny Herrin, Delena Yocum, and Curry Herrin; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
