Danny Russell Moore

1953 - 2023

Danny Russell Moore, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son, uncle, friend and neighbor, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Danny was born January 31, 1953, in Los Angeles, California to Johnnie and Darlene Moore, joined by younger siblings Michael and Cynthia. He graduated from Rowland High School in 1972. He then welcomed daughter Jennifer and son Scott. 

Soon after, he contracted a rare form of cancer, a disease he fought throughout his life with strength, determination, and unbreakable positivity. He met the love of his life, Linda (Page), in 1976, a receptionist at his doctor’s office. They had three sons, Brian, Bradley and Zachary, raised in Norwalk, California.

He had many careers, beginning by working with his father and uncles at a paper company. He took his manufacturing expertise to other industries making glass, spices and plastics, and in between became a water remediation expert. His first fix-it project was a treasured mini-bike when he was a teenager, still running today.  Family and friends were lucky recipients of his know-how, a great teacher and fixer of cars, woodworker, home repair man, and generally lender of a helping hand on any project.  He always made sure others were taken care of.

For fun, he was an avid camper and fisherman, both deep sea and lake. Danny was never happier than when he was camping, enjoying the outdoors with his family. No fish or campfire was safe. Most recently he took up motorcycling again, this time a Spyder for road trips and even fetching the mail. 

He was a giant of a man, standing 6’4” and wearing a size 26 ring, but his heart was even bigger. He will be irrevocably missed by his family, friends and neighbors, reaching back from his teenage years to those he recently met on those trips to the mailbox. He was our hero.

He will be deeply and lovingly missed by his family, Johnnie Louis Moore, Finis Darlene Moore (Setzer), Michael Moore, Cynthia Benson (John), Jennifer Vogele (Jeff), Scott Moore, Brian Moore (Jennifer), Bradley Moore, Zachary Moore (Michelle), nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a niece, and a nephew. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Chapel beginning at 2:00 PM to celebrate and reminisce on Danny's life.
