Charles Kenneth James 1947-2021
Charles Kenneth James longtime resident of Azle, passed away on December 11, 2021, with his loving wife by his side.
Ken, aka Papa, was born March 3, 1947, in Flint, Michigan to Charles and Ada James. He considered himself a Texan as he spent all but a few years of his childhood in Smithfield, Texas.
Ken was a proud veteran drafted into the US Army following his high school graduation. His first deployment was to Vietnam where he served from 1966 to 1968. After returning from Vietnam, Ken was stationed in Kansas City, Detroit, Washington D.C, Korea and finally back to Texas before retiring from the military in 1981.
Ken worked hard his entire life and retired as an electronic technician for Best Buy in 2012.
Ken’s most passionate hobby was bowling, leading him to join leagues throughout his adult years. He loved being on his boat and spending many hours on area lakes with his family.
Ken is reunited with his parents, Charles and Ada James, and brothers, Michael James and John James.
He will forever be in the hearts of his wife of fifty-two years, Pat James; three children, Scott and wife, Dawn, Sharon Karnes, and Shawn and wife, Joyce; granddaughters, Samantha and husband, Brandon, Payton and husband, Kevin, Reagan, Courtney, Mckenna, and Ashley; grandsons, David, Shawn Jr, and Brandon; four great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter due in 2022; three sisters, Vicki, Nikki and Teri; and a host of loving friends.
