Cari McTaggart Obituary

Cari McTaggart, age 61, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020 after a long battle with multiple pneumonias.

Cari was a dedicated mother and grandmother, and spending time with her children and grandchildren and those she loved was something that she held dear to her heart. She taught us all that loving unconditionally was part of being a family and that it was a lifelong commitment. She taught her three daughters (Stacy, Jessica, and Danielle) to be strong independent women. Our mother was a big part of our lives and was more than just our mother.  She was our friend and she will be missed more than words can say.

She was an avid reader, and enjoyed being outside relaxing in the sunlight or in the water.  Cari loved her plants- her favorites were white hibiscus-and took pride in her garden.   Cari was someone who helped everyone she came to know; she had the biggest most compassionate heart.  She was always willing to listen, or to be the voice of guidance or whatever it might be that you needed.

Cari blended her business education degree with her gift for technology to build her career.   Cari taught early in her career, and then worked with the technology teams in her Fort Worth jobs.  She also worked with   individuals to accomplish their business goals through her consulting company.  Cari had been an Academic Program Specialist with the University of North Texas Health Science Center since 2012. She was known for working with students to help them with their future medical career plans. She took a genuine interest in her students and their well-being. She didn’t talk about the extra mile she gave and none of us had any idea about how many lives she touched. Our Mom has apparently been doing extraordinary things for people who crossed her path for decades. We are so very proud.

Cari was born in Flint, Michigan to Al and Jane Gensheimer.  She attended Saline Schools and received a bachelor’s degree from Siena Heights University before relocating to Texas in 1998.  She was preceded in death by her father Al, and brother Lee. Cari is survived by her mother Jane Dulworth (Cecil), daughters Stacy McTaggart; Jessica Myers (Jerry); Danielle Wanat (Charles). Grandchildren Dalton, Destinie, Alyssa, Kasady, Madison, Damian, Azlan, Bella, and Chloe.  Sister Jan Gensheimer (Don Nenadic), brother Mark Gensheimer (Ronda), brother Todd Gensheimer (Stephanie); sister Alison Gensheimer (Greg Mayor), and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with a potluck to follow will be held in her honor on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 6:00 PM at Paradise Cove at Lake Grapevine.  Please reach out to Jessi Myers via Facebook for further information.  The family is requesting that donations be made in Cari’s name to the Dallas Texas Chapter of the American Lung Association and be designated for asthma research.
