Beverly Ann (Peterson) Gates

In loving memory of Beverly Ann Gates

January 17, 1932-November 4, 2023

Beverly was born in Minneapolis, MN where she grew up. She attended High School and studied Beauty Shop Operating. She had fond memories of working at the drug store soda fountain when she was a teenager. She would later become a home maker and mother.

She married Duane L. Gates in 1951 in Abilene, TX. Beverly and Duane grew up across the alley from each other as children. In 1955 Beverly gave birth to her son Michael. Beverly and Duane would later become successful drive-in theater owner operators.

Beverly was very active in the VFW women’s auxiliary in Azle and was very proud of the work they did in the community.  She had fond memories of traveling especially her trip to Grand Cayman in the Caribbean. She also enjoyed a trip to Sweden and Norway to explore her ancestry.  Beverly also enjoyed the occasional gambling trip or a quick trip across the border into old Mexico.

Beverly was a devoted grandmother to her granddaughters, especially Brandy and Melanie who she helped raise.

Beverly is preceded in death by her loving husband Duane and is survived by her son Michael, granddaughters Michelle Gilbert, Tara Barnes, Brandy Jones, Melanie Murphy, great grandsons Cole Barnes, Aidan Jones, and Stratton Murphy and great-great-grand daughter Charlotte Barnes, brother-in-law Byron Melius and nieces Christy Ragsdill, and Mikenzie Oldham.

Beverly will surely be missed by all those whose life she touched.
