Betty Emanuel Haas passed away after a brief illness on November 23, 2022.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home, 850 N Cardinal Road, Azle, TX. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 3 at the First United Methodist Church of Azle followed by a committal service at Azleland Memorial Park.
Betty was born in Graham, Texas, on December 25, 1939, to parents, James and Odessa Emanuel. Her family moved to Azle in 1949 where she graduated from high school, then attended Texas Wesleyan College graduating with a bachelor's degree. She later completed a master’s degree from University of North Texas.
It was while she was attending TWC that she met the love of her life, Kenneth Haas, to whom she was married for over 61 years. She taught for 31 years at Azle and Lake Worth high schools, assisted Ken with managing their lumber yard and hardware store, and, along with her sister, took over the management of an apartment building and cemetery started by her father.
Active in First United Methodist Church and the Azle community, she has touched many friends and family.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Haas.
She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Tony (Kelley) and Doug (Renee); her sister, Jacqueline Weaver; her sister-in-law, Connie Haas; her grandkids, Lauren Wakefield (Kory), Kristen Haas-Huynh (Thien), Andrea Durkee (Craig), Henry Haas and Kate Haas; and five great-grandchildren.
