Barbara Gayle Richardson-Simmons, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024, at the age of 76, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 11, 1947, to Charles Richardson and Trannie Mae Abbott-Richardson, Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her cherished son Tommy Simmons and his wife Stephanie, her son Kelly Simmons and his wife Susan, her grandsons, Jeremy Stewart, Adam Stewart, her granddaughter Kaitlin Simmons, her grandson Dawson Simmons, her grandson Brayden Simmons, her granddaughter Christina Munoz, her grandson Ricky Artmanni, her granddaughter Abbigail Simmons, her grandson Neil Simmons, her brother Charles Richardson and her adoring great-grandchildren, Dominic Munoz and Finn and Duncan Stewart, as well as a host of other loving, extended family and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Steve Simmons, her daughter, Tracy McKenzie, her son, Kirk Simmons, and her siblings, Sandy and Justus.

Barbara's life was a testament to love, warmth, and generosity. A graduate of Polytech High School in Fort Worth, she spent her formative years in Mexia and Groesbeck, Texas, where she was baptized and nurtured in the church. In 1973, she met the love of her life, Steve, whom she married in 1975.

Renowned for her hospitality, Barbara was the epitome of a gracious host, always ensuring everyone felt welcome and cared for. Her greatest joy was her family, and she never missed an opportunity to support and attend the sporting events of her children and grandchildren.

Barbara had a passion for cooking, delighting her loved ones with her culinary creations, and cherished family vacations along the Texas coast near Port Aransas. She also found solace and joy in boating on Lake Worth.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the Azle Funeral Chapel on the grounds of Azleland Cemetery at 10 AM. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation, and a candle service will follow at the cemetery. Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched
