Barbara Claussen Obituary

Barbara Lee Claussen passed away on March 12, 2021.

A Funeral Service will be held at Azle and Lake Worth Funeral Home on Thursday, March 25, 2021, beginning at 3:00 PM.

Barbara was born on January 14, 1939 in Galveston, Texas to the late Henry and Louise Boston. She resided in Galveston with her mother and brother, Roosevelt “Sonny” Boston, until she graduated from Ball Highschool.  Barbara married the love of her life, Bob Claussen, and together they shared three children.  Throughout their marriage, they moved several times before deciding to settle in Azle, Texas in the summer of 1978.  She had many different careers through the years, starting as a young girl at the Dime Store in Galveston, but her main job was raising her children.  Once they were grown, Barbara and Bob took a leap of faith and made the big move to Arizona after retirement but returned to Azle after their first grandchild was born.  Over the 82 years of her life span, Barbara never met a stranger, and loved to be with family and friends.  She opened her home to all and enjoyed hosting and tending to everyone else. She was an avid supporter and participant in her kids’ activities, whether it be sports, band, choir, rodeos, motorcycles, or camping. Barbara looked forward to spending time with her group of ladies, playing Keno, on a monthly basis. She was very social, whether she was square dancing, gourmet cooking, or serving on the council and committees for her church, Barbara truly thrived being in the presence of others.  She had a generous and giving heart, never failing to contribute to numerous charities and helping those in need.  In her free time, Barbara enjoyed crafting, painting, gardening, and volunteering at Manna in Weatherford.  She had a large collection of antiques and elephant figurines.  Above all, Barbara loved the Lord and her family.  She leaves a legacy not only with her family, but with the Hope Lutheran Church also where her and her husband were members and one of the few founding families.
Barbara is preceded in passing by her father, Henry Boston; mother, Louise Boston; and son-in-law, Richard Ramon.
She will be deeply and lovingly missed by her Husband of 63 years, Bob Claussen; children, Bobby Claussen, Debbie Claussen, and Cindy Claussen  Ramon; brother, Sonny Boston and wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Andi Ramon and Chad Ramon; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends who became family.
