Alta Jean Kent Harris was our Matriarch although she was affectionately called Mother, Granny or Jean to all who knew her. She was born in Winona, Mississippi on September 3, 1934 and her southern drawl was as big as her heart. That heart belonged to her husband Dwyane Harris for more than 66 years.
Jean actually met Dwyane on January 5, 1955 and they were married just 10 days later. When asked by so many what was the “
secret sauce” to such a long and happy marriage, my Granny would reply, “Be sweet to each and never go to bed angry.” [❤] ️
Jean loved ceramics, cooking and crocheting. She often reminisced about the traveling she and Dwyane did in their RV, visiting 43 different states in the US.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Cone and husband Emmette of Fort Worth; step-daughter Sheila Pierce and husband AW of Azle; son Dwyane (Sparky) Harris Jr. and wife Pam of Azle; Granddaughter’s: Jami Irons of Keller and Brandi Irons Williams and husband Donnie of Fort Worth Grandsons: John, Joseph and James Harris of Azle; Great Grandchildren: Taylor, Jamilyn, Luke and Kiera; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Granny loved the Lord and didn’t put much stock in getting angry. If you found yourself angry, she would tell you, “You’ve got the same shoes to get glad in!” So many lessons and pray we remember them all!
Jean, Mother, Granny, You were loved beyond measure and you will be missed by all.
