In Loving Memory of Vicky Lynn Temple
1960 - 2024
Vicky Lynn Temple, born on October 29, 1960, in Monahans, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on September 18, 2024, in Azle, Texas. She was the beloved daughter of Don and Wanda Kelley, who instilled in her the values of love, faith, and compassion. Raised in a nurturing Baptist household, Vicky was baptized as a child at the First Baptist Church of Wickett, Texas. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life, shaping her character and the way she interacted with others.
Vicky's upbringing alongside her four siblings created a strong foundation of familial bonds that she cherished deeply. The love and support they shared were evident in the close-knit relationships they maintained throughout their lives. Family gatherings were filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of shared memories, all of which Vicky played a central role in nurturing.
A dedicated and compassionate certified nursing aide, Vicky devoted many years of her life to caring for the elderly, notably with Vitas Hospice and various nursing facilities. Her passion for her work was evident in the kindness and empathy she extended to her patients. Vicky approached her role with unwavering dedication, often going above and beyond to ensure her patients felt loved and valued during their most vulnerable moments. Her legacy of compassion and service will remain in the hearts of those she cared for and their families.
In addition to her professional dedication, Vicky was a devoted mother to her three daughters: Deidre Kelley, Monica Matheny, and Stephanie Franks. Her children were her pride and joy, and she devoted herself to raising them with love, support, and guidance. Vicky created a nurturing environment where each of her daughters could flourish, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams and passions. Beyond being a mother, she was a cherished grandmother whose grandkids were her world. She built unique and special relationships with each of them, serving as a confidant and a source of wisdom. Vicky's gentle spirit and loving presence made her an exceptional grandma, and the memories they created together will be treasured forever.
Vicky was also known as an excellent cook and was very keen on how to stretch a dollar. An avid music lover, she embraced an eclectic range of genres, often sharing her passion with her loved ones and creating joyful moments filled with singing and sharing music.
Her creative spirit shone through her many DIY projects, as she enjoyed transforming her home into a warm and welcoming space. Whether it was a new decoration or a home improvement project, Vicky was always working on something new, bringing her artistic vision to life.
Affectionately known as the "cat lady," Vicky had a profound love for animals, especially cats and dogs. She often fostered cats and kittens, providing them with a safe and loving environment until they found forever homes. Some of her beloved pets now bring joy to patients at Hospice House, where they continue her legacy of love and companionship, while others thrive in a local cat café, delighting visitors with their playful spirits.
Vicky is survived by her daughters, Deidre Kelley, Monica Matheny, and Stephanie Franks (and her husband Brian Franks); her grandchildren, Skyler Howard, Alexis Pagán, Aden Pagán, Chasen Matheny, Codi Matheny, Addison Franks, and her great-grandchild Holt Howard. She is also survived by her three brothers, Stephen Kelley (and his wife Cristin), Kerry Kelley (and his wife Patty), and John Kelley, as well as a multitude of extended friends and family who were touched by her warmth and kindness. Vicky was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Don and Wanda Kelley, and her sister, Donna Kelley.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her niece, Tassy Rodgers, for the exceptional care she provided during Vicky's illness.
