In Loving Memory of Telton James Young
1949 – 2025

Telton James Young, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Azle, Texas, on June 30, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family. He was 76 years old.

Born June 7, 1949, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Ulner and Mildred Young, Telton grew up steeped in the values of faith, hard work, and family. He spent his early years in the rolling hills of Kentucky before moving to North Texas at the age of 16, where he would later build a life full of love, purpose, and dedication.

At 18, with a deep sense of patriotism and courage, Telton enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He proudly served his country, shaping the resilience and determination that would come to define him for the rest of his life.

Upon returning home from his military service, Telton's life changed forever when he met the love of his life, Sharon, in 1976. From their very first date, they knew it was meant to be. The two married in 1977 and went on to share nearly five decades of unwavering love and partnership. Sharon describes Telton as a "true cowboy"—a man of grit, honor, and heart. He had a deep love for riding horses, working cattle, and getting his hands dirty with whatever needed fixing. He often said with a grin, "Jack of all trades, master of none," but to those who knew him, he mastered the most important things: integrity, love, and faith.

Telton was a man who lived by example. He believed hard work built character, and he instilled that belief in his children. A devoted father, he taught his two kids the value of perseverance, honesty, and doing what's right. His daughter Becky was especially close to his heart—his "daddy's little girl" and the apple of his eye. His bond with his son Chuck was built on mutual respect, love, and the shared lessons of life.

Telton could do it all. Whether it was mechanical work, carpentry, or fixing anything that came his way, he took great pride in being a hands-on man. He found joy in the outdoors, where he felt most connected to God's creation. Above all, he found his greatest joy in family. His grandchildren adored him—worshipped the ground he walked on—and his love for them was limitless. That love only deepened with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and delight.

For over forty years, Telton and Sharon were faithful and active members of the Azle Church of Christ. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and it guided him in every word, every action, and every relationship. He leaves behind a legacy of service to others, quiet strength, and a steadfast commitment to those he loved.

Telton is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Young; his son, Chuck Pittman, and wife Jessica; and his daughter, Becky Lacroix, and husband Shawn. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Ashton, Blake, Trever, Chase, Chelsea, Hayden, Shayna, Wyatt, and Cooper, along with 13 precious great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Alvin, Virginia, and Deloris, as well as many extended family members and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulner and Mildred Young, and his siblings Billy, Denver, Joyce, Dorothy, and Jackie.

A public visitation will be held Monday, July 7th at 1:00 PM at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by a committal service at Azleland Cemetery & Memorial Park, located on the grounds of the funeral home at 850 N. Cardinal Road, Azle, Texas.

Though he may no longer walk beside us, Telton's spirit lives on in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the legacy he leaves behind. He was a husband who loved deeply, a father who led by example, a grandfather who inspired awe, and a man whose boots will never be filled but whose footprints will remain in our hearts forever.
