In Loving Memory of

Ruth Carol Austell DeGroat

January 28, 1932 - October 27, 2026

Ruth Carol Austell DeGroat, 94, passed away on October 27, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loved her dearly, and a legacy that will continue through the generations.

Born on January 28, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ruth was the beloved daughter of Clifford and Isabell Austell. Throughout her 94 years, she experienced the joys and challenges of life, creating a story filled with family, love, creativity, and treasured moments.

One of the greatest blessings of Ruth's life was her marriage to her beloved husband, John Rogers DeGroat. Together, they shared 67 years of marriage, building a life and family rooted in years of companionship, commitment, and love. Though John preceded her in death, the beautiful life they shared remains an enduring part of her story.

Ruth was a devoted mother to her sons, John, Timothy, and Robert. She found purpose in caring for her home and family and expressed her personality through her many interests. A homemaker, music enthusiast, painter, and aerobics teacher, Ruth embraced life in her own special way. Her love of music and art reflected her creative spirit, while her work as an aerobics teacher showed her appreciation for movement and staying active.

Her family continued to grow through the generations, bringing her the joy of being a grandmother to Kyle, Zach, and Daniel, and a great-grandmother to Henry. The love shared between generations is a lasting part of Ruth's legacy, and the memories made with her will remain close to the hearts of those who knew her best.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Isabell Austell; her husband of 67 years, John Rogers DeGroat; her sister, Bobbie Mason; and her son, Robert DeGroat.

She leaves behind her loving sons, John and his wife, Susan DeGroat, Timothy and his wife, Judith DeGroat and Mike Austell and companion Peggy Labs her grandsons, Kyle, Zach and his wife, Anne, and Daniel DeGroat; and her great-grandson, Henry DeGroat. Her family will continue to honor her memory through the stories they share, the traditions they carry forward, and the love that connects them.

The family wishes to extend special and heartfelt gratitude to Crystal Hancock and Bobbie Sweeney of Halo Hospice for the extraordinary care, compassion, and kindness they provided to Ruth. Their dedication and support brought comfort to Ruth and her loved ones, and their thoughtfulness will always be remembered with appreciation.

Though saying goodbye is never easy, Ruth's life leaves behind something beautiful: the love of a family, the memories of 94 meaningful years, and a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her presence will be missed, but the love she gave will never fade.

A private memorial service will be held by the family.

May Ruth rest peacefully, surrounded by the love she gave so freely and remembered always by those whose lives she touched.
