In Loving Memory of Ricky M. Mitchell

1953 - 2024

Ricky Mitchell, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on October 19, 1953, in Durant, Oklahoma, Ricky was the cherished son of John and Gladys Mitchell. Though his roots were planted in Oklahoma, he was raised in North Texas, where he touched the lives of countless people with his kindness, wisdom, and infectious spirit.

Ricky was a man of many talents, a true Jack-of-all-trades. He was mechanically gifted, with an unparalleled ability to fix anything that came his way. His passion for working with cars was evident throughout his life, and he built a successful career running his own muffler shop. His clients came to rely on his years of expertise, his patience, and his meticulous attention to detail. Ricky loved everything about cars—from working on them to simply talking about them—and it was in this work that he found purpose and pride. Whether he was using duct tape to patch something up or carefully crafting the perfect repair, Ricky's resourcefulness and dedication were always on display.

Ricky's love for his family was immeasurable. He was a devoted father and Paw Paw, always there for his children and grandchildren, offering wisdom, love, and support at every turn. His children, Jeremy, Josh, and Haley, knew they could count on him for anything. He imparted his knowledge to them with patience and care, always teaching them the value of hard work, perseverance, and honesty. Ricky's bond with his grandchildren was unbreakable, and he took great joy in spending time with them, creating memories that will last for generations.

Though Ricky's health led him to discover a deeper connection to his faith later in life, he lived with a strong moral compass, grounded in love for his family and a desire to help others. His faith became a source of comfort and strength in his later years, and he approached life's challenges with grace and resilience.

Ricky had a joyful and free-spirited nature. He was known for his infectious smile, his love for music, and his ability to light up any room. He was the life of every party, always ready to dance and bring a sense of fun and celebration wherever he went. His sense of humor, warmth, and zest for life will be missed by all who knew him.

Ricky is survived by his children: son Jeremy Mitchell and his wife Amanda, son Josh Mitchell, and daughter Haley Parris and her husband Michael; his 13 beloved grandchildren, whom he loved deeply; his brother Alvis Mitchell and his wife Carol; and many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Mitchell; his brother Jerry Mitchell; and his sister Patricia Fitzgerald and her husband Frank Fitzgerald.

Ricky leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and wisdom. His memory will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know him. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
