In Loving Memory of Richard Dale McCaleb

1965 - 2024

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Dale McCaleb, a cherished son, devoted father, and beloved friend, who left this world on September 20, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on November 24, 1965, in Fort Worth, Texas, Richard was a lifelong resident of this vibrant city, where he nurtured his passions, cultivated lasting friendships, and made an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Richard was the son of Richard Gayle McCaleb and Barbara Gaye Whitaker-McCaleb, whose unwavering love and support shaped him into the remarkable individual he became. Growing up in a close-knit family, Richard was instilled with strong values of kindness, integrity, and community service. He graduated from Haltom High School, where he discovered his passion for mechanics, learning the trade that would define much of his life. During those formative years, he honed his skills in small engine repair, igniting a love for all things mechanical that would serve him well throughout his life.

Richard's profound intelligence and determination set him apart; he truly was a master of any trade he wanted to explore.  His career spanned several decades at BCI Technology, where he worked alongside his childhood best friend, Tracy. Richard's dedication and expertise made him an invaluable member of the team, serving as both a supervisor in the security technology industry and also as the company's fleet mechanic. Even during his battle with illness, Richard's unwavering commitment to his work was evident and his employer BCI made every effort to support him. They even went so far as to continue paying him even after he could no longer work, demonstrating the high regard in which he was held.  They treated him like family and he thought of them as family.

Outside of his professional life, Richard led an active personal life fueled by his passion for motorcycles. Riding was more than a hobby; it was a way of life, marked by the camaraderie he shared with his fellow bike club members. His love for the open road was matched only by his willingness to support those around him—he even became an ordained minister to officiate the wedding of his friend, Spider, a testament to his deep bonds and vibrant spirit.

Richard was also a devoted father, cherishing the time he spent talking with his children. He shared stories and wisdom during their long, meaningful conversations, fostering a bond that would last a lifetime. He took immense pride in restoring old vehicles, including the first truck owned by his son Chris—a labor of love that brought them closer together.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Barbara Gaye McCaleb; his son, Richard Bryan McCaleb; his daughter, Tiffany McCaleb, and her husband, Steven Scott; his son, Chris McCaleb, and his wife, Ashley. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren: Alyssa Norwood, Hayden Hughes, Breyonce McCaleb, Alexis Norwood, Rylee McCaleb, Ethan Clay, Aniyah Scott, and Logan McCaleb. He is also survived by his sister, Tina McCaleb. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Gayle McCaleb, and his sister, Karen McCaleb.

A visitation to celebrate Richard's life will be held on Friday, September 27, at the Azle Funeral Chapel on the grounds of Azleland Cemetery from 5 to 8 PM. Everyone is welcome to come by, share memories, and pay their respects to a man whose life was a testament to love, resilience, and community.

As we bid farewell to Richard Dale McCaleb, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the impact he made on our lives. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift, reminding us all to live fully, love deeply, and embrace the beauty of every moment.
