Richard Darwin Gallivan, born on October 15, 1940, to the late Earl Oliver Gallivan and Mary Jane Wilder, concluded his earthly journey on March 31, 2024. A distinguished veteran, Richard proudly served two terms in the US Army, embodying dedication and honor throughout his service.
Richard's life was a testament to his devotion to family, with his loved ones occupying the center of his universe. A true patriarch, he found immense joy and fulfillment in the bonds he shared with his relatives, leaving behind a legacy of love and unity.
Among his many passions, Richard had a special affinity for his flock of chickens, nurturing them with care and delight. Music stirred his soul, offering him solace and inspiration in every note. His love for fishing was a lifelong pursuit, with each cast of the line carrying memories of tranquil moments spent amidst nature's beauty.
A culinary enthusiast, Richard's kitchen was his domain, where he delighted in crafting delicious meals for his loved ones. His culinary creations were a reflection of his generosity and love.
Furthermore, Richard's heart was always open to his canine companions, finding companionship and unwavering loyalty in their presence.
Richard Darwin Gallivan leaves behind a cherished legacy of service, love, and passion. His memory will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, his spirit a beacon of light guiding them through the journey of life.
Richard has been reunited with his wife, Ellie Gallivan; daughter, Nancy Gallivan; parents, Mary Jane and Earl Gallivan; and his brother, Jerry Gallivan; in God's Eternal Kingdom.
He will be deeply and lovingly missed by his daughter, Cathy Jones and husband, James; daughter, Cindy Gallivan; grandchildren, Rachel Gallivan, Jimmy Rankin, Josh Smith, Zachary Sterling, Shayla Smith, Kellee Sterling, and Crystal Sterling; and a host of extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home beginning at 2:00 PM to commemorate Richard's life well lived.
