It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ralph Vernon Onken, 85, of Fort Worth, TX, who left this world on April 12, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on June 20, 1940, in Winters, TX, Ralph was the cherished son of George and Katie Onken.
Ralph dedicated many years of his life to his work as a machinist for General Dynamics and American Airlines, where his craftsmanship and unwavering commitment to excellence were greatly valued.
A life filled with joy and laughter, Ralph married the love of his life, Janet (Jaye) Layton, on December 9, 1983. He was known not just for his sharp sense of humor, but also for his adventurous spirit and love of life. Ralph found great happiness in riding his motorcycle, traveling to new places, and spending cherished moments with his family, taking great pride in being a wonderful Papa.
He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly, including his devoted wife, Janet Onken of Fort Worth, TX; daughters Kimberly and husband Larry Castro of Fort Worth, TX, and Kathie and husband Joseph Gustwiller of Huntsville, AL; stepson Dustin and wife Barbara Hamilton of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren Ricky Markum, Rachel Markum, and Skylar and husband Justyn Garcia; great-grandchildren Raven Castro and Adalea Valentine; and his sister Helen and husband Arliss Hantsche.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, George and Katie Onken, and his brother George (GW) Onken.
Funeral services celebrating Ralph's life will be held at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home, Monday April 20, 2026 at 2:00 pm. follow by burial at Azleland Memorial Park, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life. He will be laid to rest in a burial service, providing a peaceful farewell to a beloved husband, father, and friend.
In this difficult time, we find comfort in the love and legacy Ralph leaves behind, forever etched in our hearts.
