Pauline Robinett

June 18, 1930 — March 17, 2026

Pauline "Polly" Robinett passed away surrounded by family on March 17, 2026, in Azle, Texas where she lived as a reluctant Texan for three years. Polly's heart remained in the Land of Enchantment as a proud New Mexican. Polly was born on June 18th, 1930, in the small town of Endee, New Mexico. While in college at Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico, despite never having been in band, Polly decided to join the band as a cymbal player just to get to spend time with the handsome trombonist who caught her eye. Her plan worked and she married the love of her life, William "Tom" Robinett in 1951. She never played the cymbals again but enjoyed Tom's lifelong love of making music. The couple settled in Lovington, New Mexico where Tom worked for the Lovington public schools and where they raised their two daughters, Nikki and Patti. They lived in Lovington until 2010 when they moved to Hobbs to be closer to their daughter Patti. They loved to square dance, travel in their RV and spend time with their four grandchildren, Kristen, Robin, Ross, and Staci. They also enjoyed spending time at their charming cabin in Ruidoso and delighted in being involved in the Presbyterian Churches in Lovington and Hobbs. Polly and Tom were happily married for 69 years.

Polly was a kindergarten teacher and librarian. She instilled the joy of reading and a love of books into countless Lovington children. Polly was an incredible artist. She was a painter, a seamstress, a quilter and a crafter. She loved Willie Nelson, her shih tzu, Meili and the Dallas Cowboys. She embraced her Greek heritage and never passed up a chance to enjoy Greek cuisine. She loved wearing the turquoise jewelry that Tom made for her and always looked stunning with her impeccable southwestern style.

She was preceded in death by her parents Minnie and Nicholas George Kondos, and her husband William Thomas Robinett.

She is survived by her two daughters Nikki (Jim) of Azle, Texas and Patti (Cliff) of Hobbs, New Mexico; three granddaughters: Kristen Short, Robin Sefcik (Matt), and Staci Kaufman (Jon); one grandson: Ross Short (Christina); seven great granddaughters: Ellie, Hadli, Cameron, Mimi, Kennedy, Hollyn and Emma; and four great grandsons: Jackson, Rylan, Greyson and Clark.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 9 at 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 920 North Turner Street, Hobbs, New Mexico 88240. Memorials can be made in Polly's name to the First Presbyterian Church of Hobbs. The family would like to send thanks and appreciation to the caring staff of Legacy Oaks Senior Living and Hopestone Hospice of Azle, Texas as well as to her loving aides Redda, Phyllis, Norma, Stephanie and Monica.
