Paul Howard Godwins Sr.

Paul passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, after medical issues caused by the aftereffects of Covid-19.

Paul was a no BS kind of man who grew up in Alabama which he would frequently talk about from memories of being a young boy there. He loved the small town feeling that Alabama offered but quickly grew to love his hometown of Azle, Texas, where he has lived since the early 1980s.

Azle is also where he met the love of his life, his wife, Dora Godwin. They conjoined families in 1992 and from there remained in love together to this day. Combined, they had nine kids together, David Godwin of Alabama; Brenda Veuleman of Hurst, Texas; JE Anderson of Breckenridge Texas; Michelle Farris of Azle; Troy Smith of Azle; Paul Godwin Jr. of Azle; Stephanie Oxford of Paradise Texas; William Godwin of Azle; and Christina Beck of Azle.

Paul was also an amazing Papa to twenty-seven grandkids and ten great grandkids.

Paul leaves all of them as well as one sister, Marilyn Burdett of Alabama, his nephew, great nephew, and great niece behind.

Paul was a hardworking man who was always on time and never let a day's work go undone. He did everything he could do for his wife and children, as those are the people who kept him going every day.  Paul seemed to be a rough faced kind of man, but he was always the first to give to anyone who needed it.

We thank Paul for all the love, support and lessons learned. He would want us to remember him for all the good times he had with each of you reading this today. Please remember, this is not goodbye rather a see you later as we will meet him again at Heaven's gates.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 1 , 2021, at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home beginning at 1:00PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00PM.

Internment will follow the Funeral Service at Azleland Cemetery and Memorial Park.
