In Loving Memory of Pamela Jean Harris
June 23, 1960 – October 10, 2025
With hearts both heavy with sorrow and full of gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Pamela Jean Harris, a spirited soul who brought warmth, laughter, and unforgettable joy to everyone blessed enough to know her. Pamela passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in the coastal town of Port Aransas, Texas—a place as vibrant and full of life as she was.
Born on June 23, 1960, in Fort Worth, Texas, Pamela came into this world with the same energy and light that would define her presence for 65 beautiful years. The daughter of Rosa Watkins and Richard Bell Jr., she was a shining light from an early age—curious, bold, fiercely loving, and always ready with a witty remark or a comforting word.
Pamela lived a life anchored in joy and fueled by her passions. She had a deep love for the great outdoors and found her peace among the trees, by the campfire, and under the stars. Camping was one of her greatest joys—not simply for the connection to nature, but for the togetherness it inspired. Whether it was with family or a group of friends, she relished the laughter-filled nights in an RV or around a barbecue pit, where stories flowed like wine and memories were made in abundance.
An animal lover at heart, Pamela had a particular fondness for cats—those fiercely independent creatures that mirrored her own spirit. Her feline companions brought her endless joy, curling up beside her as she relaxed in her beloved hot tub or sunbathed on a lazy afternoon. She found bliss in life's simple pleasures: the soothing bubbles of her spa, the calm of the water when she swam, the warmth of the sun on her skin, and the comfort of home filled with the smell of good food and the sound of laughter.
To know Pamela was to know what it meant to live. She was the heartbeat of every party, the spark that ignited the fun, and the soul that made every gathering feel like a celebration. Her cookouts were legendary—where the grill sizzled, music played, and friends became family over a plate of something delicious and a cold drink in hand. She believed deeply in the power of joy and the importance of making time for fun. In every season, in every gathering, Pamela was there—smiling, laughing, and bringing people together.
Pamela's love and light will live on in the hearts of those who survive her, especially her devoted husband, Dwayne "Sparky" Harris Jr., who was her partner in every adventure, her rock, and her greatest companion. She also leaves behind her beloved stepsons, John, Joseph, and James Harris, who were proud to call her their stepmother and grateful for the love and spirit she brought into their lives.
She is also survived by her cherished sister, Donna Steele, who stood by her side through life's highs and lows, and whose bond with Pamela was one of deep friendship and unwavering loyalty. Her nephew, Jeremy Steele, and niece, Christy Steele, carry forward her legacy of love, laughter, and light. Each of them holds dear the countless memories of a woman who always made them feel seen, heard, and loved.
Pamela is preceded in death by her loving parents, Rosa Watkins and Richard Bell Jr., who surely welcomed her into eternal rest with open arms. She is also reunited with her first husband, John Hayes, and her in-laws, Jean and Dwayne Harris, who loved her as one of their own.
Pamela Jean Harris leaves behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and a life lived fully and without apology. She taught those around her how to savor the moment, how to laugh loudly, how to love deeply, and how to never say no to a good time. Her vibrant spirit will forever echo in the laughter of family cookouts, the hush of a forest campsite, the splash of a pool, and the purring of a content cat curled beside someone who knew her love.
As we say goodbye to this extraordinary woman, we do so with tears in our eyes but gratitude in our hearts. Pamela didn't just live—she lived well. She leaves behind a trail of memories as colorful and bright as the Texas skies she adored.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home, with the funeral service to begin at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Azleland Cemetery and Memorial Park.
In her memory, may we each live a little more fully, love a little more freely, and never forget to have a good time—just as Pamela would have wanted.
