Nancy Jean Westbrook

1939 - 2022

Nancy Jean Westbrook was peacefully called home to go be with the Lord on December 10, 2022. She first graced the planet with her presence October 4, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio to parents, Harold and Birdie Zunk. Nancy spent the first 14 years of her life in Toledo before the family relocated to Gainesville, Texas. It was there that she eventually met and fell in love with her husband, Lee Westbrook. The two were joined in wedded bliss on November 15, 1961.

From there, his enlistment in the Army took them on many adventures in many places over the decades. Their life as a married couple began in Germany, where they were posted for 4 years. From there, they made a life all across the United States, from California to Alabama before returning to Texas. Along the way, they were blessed with three beautiful children: Debra, Kathy, and Lisa. Eventually a sole grandchild joined the family: Rose.

Lee and Nancy were married for 50 years before he too, was called home to be with the Lord in 2011. From there, Nancy thrived as she embraced a vibrant social and spiritual life. She had countless close friends from her church family at Eagle Mountain International Church. She almost never missed a club meeting, be it Precious Jewels, Table Talk, or Ruth Circle. She was a beacon of strength and support in the community, doubling not only as the long-time volunteer of the church's info desk every Sunday, but to help fellow widows through their troubles as they entered this difficult new phase of their life.

Nancy's faith was the single most important thing to her and it is what she would have most wanted to be recognized for. She was not just a woman of great faith, but a scholar as well. Her home was filled with all kinds of theological literature on many topics. Her love for the Lord God above was equalled only to that of her family.

All who loved Nancy knew that she took great joy and pride in her ever-growing collection of hats, which were always beautifully festooned with brooches, feathers, jewels, and always in an assortment of vibrant colors. Ever the lady, she took great pride in her appearance and was never seen without a perfect coordination of wardrobe and accessories. There was also never a time when she was not sporting one of her many favorite shades of red lipstick, even if not planning to leave the house.

She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul. Smart, funny, and with a love for her friends and family that knew no depths. Her presence is and will always be greatly missed to them, but it should be remembered that she would not want anyone to be sad over her passing and instead to reflect where she is now and will be for all time.

She is survived by her children and granddaughter, and has been reunited with her parents, baby brother, husband, and many dogs in Heaven. She is loved and she will be missed.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Chapel beginning at 9:00 AM with a Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 AM.  Nancy will be laid to rest next to her husband and the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
