In Loving Memory of Michael (Mike) Cruz

1953 - 2025

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael "Mike" Cruz, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Mike passed away peacefully at his home in Azle, Texas, on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025, at the age of 71.

Mike was born on April 28th, 1953, to Joe and Andrea Cruz in Fort Worth, Texas. He grew up with a strong sense of family and a love for his community. From an early age, Mike's adventurous spirit and determination were clear. After graduating from high school, Mike chose to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps, where he excelled and earned the distinction of a Rifle Sharpshooter. His service in the Marines shaped him into the strong, disciplined man he would become, always carrying a sense of honor and dedication throughout his life.

Beyond his military service, Mike had a passion for the outdoors. He was known for his love of nature, whether it was enjoying a quiet morning fishing or gathering family and friends for a barbecue. His cooking skills, especially his barbecue, were legendary. Mike's family often gathered around the grill, where he would share delicious meals and great stories, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Pasty Campbell, who was his rock and companion. He leaves behind his children, Ember Davis, Joey Cruz, and Kimberly Bush (husband Chris Bush), each of whom held a special place in his heart. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved them with all his being, always eager to share in their laughter and milestones.

He is also survived by his dear sister, Helen Reese, and his brother, Robert Cruz, who were an important part of his life. Mike's family was everything to him, and he cherished his relationships with them deeply.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Andrea Cruz, as well as his brothers Gilbert Cruz, Larry Cruz, and David Cruz. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jesse, and the mother of his children, Teresa Davis. These were significant losses in Mike's life, and he carried their memory with him always.

Mike's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His love for his family, his commitment to his country, his sense of humor, and his passion for life will never be forgotten. He was a man who made an impact wherever he went, always leaving a mark of kindness, strength, and integrity.

A public visitation for Mike will be held on Friday, January 31st, 2025, at 1:00 PM, followed by his graveside service at 2:00 PM. Both services will take place at Azleland Cemetery & Memorial Park, located at 850 N. Cardinal Rd, Azle, TX, 76020.

As we say goodbye to our beloved Mike, we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with those who went before him. May his spirit continue to guide us, and may his memory be a blessing to all who loved him.
