Melton Squyres

1929 - 2023

Melton Squyres, age 93, of Springtown, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, April 16, 2023 at home.

Melton was born December 24, 1929, in Ireland, TX to Perry Squyres and Ruth (Snow) Squyres. He lived in the area of Purmela, Levita, & Coryell City, TX before joining

The United States Army at Abilene, TX. He served in The United States Army during the period of 1950-1956. Melton went from Abilene, TX to Ft. Still, Oklahoma an then on to

Fort Leonardwood, Missouri where he spent 16 weeks in Basic Training. After Basic Training and while the Korean War was taking place, he was stationed in Germany, serving

along the Russian Border. After the Army, he was in National Guard at Ft Hood for 2 years and worked in Civil Service.

Melton was a carpenter and worked in engineering at Clary Corp. in Fortt Worth, Texas from 1961-1984. He loved mowing with his John Deere Mower and tilling his garden every Spring and riding around with his buddy, Lee.

Melton was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sharon Suzanne; son, Michael William; sisters, Velda Dobbs, Ruth Green, Freida Simmons, and Nadene Dunn; brother, Lyndell Squyres; and his lifelong friend, Jessie Davis.

He will deeply and lovingly missed by his step daughters, Dee Dee Tovar and husband, Shelby, Brenda Swiney, and Linda Sparks and husband, Donnie; daughters, Pamela Willy and Belynda Downings; grandchildren, Trinity Tovar, Brandy Holder, and many more; great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sister, Sue Durham; brothers, Dayle Squyres and wife, Gayla, and Gayle Squyers and wife, Patsy; and a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home in Azle.
