IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melissa Larae
Stanley
October 8, 1994 – April 4, 2020
Melissa Larae Stanley passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2020.
Melissa was born on October 8, 1994, in Stephenville, Texas to Bill Stanley and Candy Geer. Lovingly referred to as "Mel," she grew into a very opinionated, witty, and intelligent woman. Mel inherited her clever sense of humor from her mom. She loved to joke around, even about herself. A devoted Christian, Mel sought solace in her relationship with Jesus. She enjoyed watching videos of traveling foodies, especially, Mark Wiens. She also loved to read and had an appetence for the history of British nobility. Mel was mesmerized by the Asian culture and she dreamed of traveling to Korea and Japan. She was an enthusiastic Dallas Stars fan who loved to cheer for her favorite player Jamie Benn.
Mel cared deeply for her family and was very protective of them. An old soul, her Dad called her a "Mama Bear" because she loved deeply and was always willing to forgive. At times this hurt her more than it helped her, but Mel was considerate and put the feelings of others before her own. Those surrounding Mel were always impressed with her unflinching honesty. She was a wonderful daughter and a fantastic Sister to her siblings Brittany and Johnathon. She admired her sister, Brittany's, success and loved her deeply. Dining out with her brother was one of her favorite things to do. Melissa and Johnathon never stopped laughing and loved each other's company. Together they created endless memories. Melissa's passing has caused a great void within the hearts of all who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Gloria Gribbin and John Geer and paternal grandparents, Carolyn and Russell Madden.
Survivors include her mother and step-father, Candy Geer Powell (Jay) of Saginaw; father and step-mother, Bill Stanley (Angie) of Saginaw; older sister, Brittany Geer of Kerrville; younger brother, Johnathon Stanley of Saginaw; dearest friend, Kelsey Beckum; and many other family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Eagles View Church, 5440 West Bailey Boswell Rd, Fort Worth TX 76179 with a date to be determined once the pandemic restrictions are lifted.
