In Loving Memory of Melissa Elaine Hann
1974 - 2025
Melissa Elaine Clark Hann, 51, passed away on November 17, 2025, in Azle, Texas. Born on March 9, 1974, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Louis Dwight and Sherian Rose McAlpine Clark, Melissa lived a life marked by faith, compassion, and love.
A proud graduate of Azle High School's Class of 1992, Melissa went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Tarleton State University in 1997. Her dedication to helping others led her to a long and impactful career as an Adult Probation Officer for Denton County, where she served faithfully for over 27 years, from September 1998 through October 2025.
Melissa married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Lee Hann, on September 6, 1997; together, they built a life rooted in faith, love, family, and shared adventures. Their marriage of 28 years was blessed with two daughters, Kendal (Micah) Cook, and Emory Hann. Melissa cherished her role as a mother and found immense joy in watching her daughters grow into beautiful and kind young women of faith.
Melissa had a deep love for the water, whether it was kayaking, swimming, water skiing, or tubing. She especially treasured vacations with her family to the lake or beach and just floating in the pool. At home, she found peace sitting outside in her backyard with a beloved dog always by her side. Known for being loving, caring, funny, and kind-hearted, Melissa touched many lives through both her personal relationships and professional service. Her faith in God and strength throughout her illness were a testament to the resilience of her spirit.
Melissa is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Shelley Clark Newton (Jeff); in-laws, Gary and Pat Hann, Gary Don Hann, and Jennifer Hann; nieces and nephews, David Newton (Meredith Kathryn and Campbell), Meredith Newton Carlson (Brady), Alison Newton, and Emma and Jasper Carr; as well as numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, and grandparents, E.R. and Betty McAlpine and Louis and Louise Clark.
A memorial service celebrating Melissa's life will be held on December 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Ash Creek Baptist Church, 300 S. Stewart Street in Azle, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Azle Community Caring Center
