Martha DeGloria Sessions, at her home in Bridgeport, Texas, in the presence of her children, received her ultimate healing when she was reunited with her husband, Gary Sessions, in the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 6, 2026.
Since her birth in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on December 27, 1948, Martha carried many titles, including Mom, Ma, Nana, Nina, Nan, Nana Booboo, “MARTHA” (when she was up to something), and the First Lady of many churches.
Martha met Gary Sessions in North Little Rock, Arkansas, where they attended church as young children. Later, as teenagers, they began seriously dating and eventually got engaged soon after graduating from high school. Martha devoted her life to the Lord, her family, and the church. She married Gary on August 9, 1968, and remained his faithful companion and partner in ministry until his passing on January 12, 2020.
Martha’s quick wit, vibrant sense of humor, and deep compassion always brought light to the room. She was known for her infectious laugh, which famously forced her to slip out of the church sanctuary on more than one occasion. Her unique charm was unmatched—whether she was answering the door for someone speaking a different language by mistakenly declaring, "I no speaka the English," or answering the phone for a local funeral home to offer profound comfort to families during their hardest times.
Outside of her family, Martha’s proudest accomplishment was her gift for tickling the piano keys. For more years than can be counted, congregations could find her sitting behind her "sacred desk" with her shoes kicked off, beautifully welcoming the Holy Spirit into the service and completely surrendering to His lead.
Martha was the proud mother of DeWayne Sessions (who married LeAnn), Marlene (who married Alfred Torres), and Teresa (who married Nathaniel Bruggink). She was blessed with six grandchildren: Kaitlin and Brandon; Cody, Nicolas, and Tristan; and Alexander. Nana always snuck special treats to her great-grandchildren: Paisley, Brandy, Landry, and Canyon; Caden, Caroline, Cameron, Josiah, Isabel, Colter, and Callen (who will be here in November); Cambri, Connor, Emmitt, Elaina, and Jameson. She is holding three great-grandbabies in heaven today.
