It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Joan Smith (Kimber) who departed this world on April 23, 2024, at the age of 92 surrounded by loved ones at the home of her grandchildren, Michael and Deanna Ford. She was born December 31, 1931, in Ishpeming, Michigan to Peter Kimber and Dorothy Kermode Kimber.
Marilyn's journey through life was marked by many travels through different countries with her husband, Chief Master Sergeant Earle B Smith who had a military career that spanned over 30 years. Their favorite place to be stationed was Guam. Marilyn was employed by AAFES for over 20 years and retired as a base exchange manager. Marilyn loved her grandchildren, crocheting baby buntings, catching up with friends and family, reading, and making frequent visits to their second home in Rockport, Texas.
She is survived by her daughters, Lois Jean Poe and Margaret Peggy (Mark) Scott; grandchildren, Vicki (Bill) Ettinger, Melissa (Mike) Carnahan, Jeffrey Kelly, Tamara (Bryan) Jennings, Michael (Deanna) Ford, Tara (Trevor) Browne, Bobby (Rebekah) Ford, Lisa Sinsel, Deanna Sinsel, and Jason Sinsel; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Dorothy Kimber; brothers, Don and John Paul Kimber; sister, Lois Ellis; son, Michael Smith; daughter, Patricia Sinsel; and grandson, Thomas Kelly Jr.
Marilyn will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those that were fortunate to know her.
