Obituary

Marilyn Ann Davis-Dickerson
August 5, 1971 – July 14, 2025

With hearts heavy, yet uplifted by the enduring power of her legacy, the family of Marilyn Ann Dickerson announces her homegoing on July 14, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, mentor, visionary, and woman of unwavering faith, Marilyn lived a life of passionate purpose, spiritual power, and boundless compassion. She was 53 years old.

Born on August 5, 1971, in Macon, Mississippi, to her parents Albert D. Davis and the late Susie Beatrice Robinson-Davis, Marilyn was raised in a joy-filled, tightly knit Pentecostal household where the Holy Spirit was the heartbeat of daily life. Music, laughter, prayer, and the love of family saturated every corner of her childhood home. With both of her parents present in the household, she grew up anchored in values that would guide her life's journey—faith, love, discipline, and deep empathy. At a tender young age, under the watchful eye of her dear mother, she was baptized, dedicating her life to Christ early on and never looking back.

Marilyn's life was one of divine appointment and sacred calling. She was a woman led by the Spirit, anointed to minister, lead, and shepherd the hearts of others. As the retired pastor of Jesus Christ Wartality Ministries, she devoted over 30 years of her life to preaching the Word of God with power, clarity, and conviction. Under her dynamic leadership, many souls came to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. A true prayer warrior, she warred in the spirit for countless people, standing in the gap with a fierce, unshakable faith. Her ministry reached beyond church walls, touching lives in neighborhoods, homes, hospitals, and even through the airwaves.

Indeed, Marilyn was a multi-faceted woman of incredible talents and ventures. She was not only a pastor and spiritual leader but an accomplished author, an engaging public speaker, a talk show host, an activist for truth and justice, and a sharp-minded entrepreneur. She published a book that reflected her spiritual insight and divine wisdom, and she was known for her commanding voice that blended warmth, strength, and truth.

She wore many hats in the business world with grace and power. She owned and operated a beloved thrift store, started a body contouring business, and co-owned both Dickerson Trucking and Dickerson Roofing alongside her devoted husband. A woman of vision, she never shied away from hard work, never lost sight of her purpose, and never let fear keep her from stepping into new ventures.

Marilyn's passions were many and beautiful. She loved working out—finding strength not only in body but in spirit. She loved to dance and sing, often lifting the atmosphere with a simple hymn or a radiant smile. But above all else, she loved to minister—to pour into others, to speak life, to uplift, to encourage, and to lead them toward hope and salvation.

She lived authentically, unapologetically herself in all situations. She was fiercely intuitive, with a knowing that came not from this world, but from God. People were drawn to her because they could trust her, confide in her, be vulnerable with her. She had a gift for seeing into the hearts of others, feeling their emotions deeply, and responding with genuine compassion. Her quiet strength could illuminate any room, and her sense of justice and integrity never wavered, even when no one else was watching.

She loved with intensity, often expecting the very best from her children and grandchildren—not because she was demanding, but because she saw their greatness. She was nurturing and loving, yes, but also protective, competitive, humorous, strategic, and wise. She could cry with you, pray with you, laugh with you, and see in you a future you hadn't yet imagined for yourself.

Marilyn shared 36 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Frankie Darnell Dickerson, Sr. Married on April 21, 1989, they were true soulmates, walking through life hand in hand, never apart in heart or purpose. They did everything together—partners in love, in ministry, in business, in adventure. Whether she was praying over him for safe travels, working beside him, or holding his hand on yet another cross-country trip, Marilyn cherished their love. Together, they explored 48 states, traveling from Canada to Mexico, Seattle to Miami, the deserts of the West to the mountains of the East, making memories at every stop. Theirs was a love that grew stronger with time, rooted in shared faith, laughter, purpose, and joy.

Marilyn's thirst for knowledge led her to the University of Phoenix online in 2015, where she pursued studies in business. She was a woman always reaching higher, always learning, always seeking to understand the deeper truths—especially those found in the Word of God. She was curious, determined, and visionary—seeing futures others couldn't yet imagine, overseeing those under her care with attentiveness and strength. She earned numerous accolades and awards throughout her time in ministry, each one a testament to her faithful service and spiritual leadership.

She leaves behind a family who loved and admired her deeply and who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Frankie Darnell Dickerson, Sr.; her father Albert D. Davis; her cherished children: Antonio C. Davis, Ebony Brown and her husband Jarvis, Elbony Lowe, Stephen Petty, David Davis Jr. and his wife Jaissa, Frankie Petty, Tyesha Petty, Whitney Petty-Smith and her husband German Smith, Frankie Dickerson Jr. and his wife Shante Garner, and Derrion Dickerson and his wife Ashley. She was a proud and loving grandmother to 26 grandchildren and great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Setina Davis, Virginia Graham and her husband Sean Graham, Francis Staples and her husband Roger Staples, Albert Davis Jr., Roosevelt Davis, and Anthony Davis and his wife Mary Jane.

She was preceded in death by her loving mother Susie B. Davis, her sister Sheila Davis, and her brother Curtis Davis. Though their absence is felt deeply, the reunion in heaven is surely glorious.

Marilyn's life will be celebrated on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Roberts Family Funeral Home Chapel in Haltom City, Texas. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by her funeral service at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to eternal rest following the service at Azleland Cemetery in Azle, Texas.

Though Marilyn Ann Dickerson now rests in the arms of her Savior, her light continues to shine. In every life she touched, every soul she helped save, every tear she wiped, prayer she whispered, business she built, sermon she preached, or child she nurtured—her legacy lives on. She walked boldly, loved fiercely, and believed deeply. She was a woman of God, a warrior of faith, and a vessel of light. May her memory be a guiding star for generations to come.

"Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord." — Matthew 25:23
