In Loving Memory of Linda Sue Wilson
1951 - 2025
Linda Sue Wilson, born October 26, 1951, in Waynesboro, Mississippi to Jessie and Zelline Malone, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Linda was born and raised in Mississippi, growing up in a loving Baptist home alongside eight siblings. She carried her deep faith with her throughout her life. In the early 1980s, she made Texas her home, where she would go on to build a beautiful life surrounded by family and love.
In the 1990s, Linda met her best friend and soulmate, Buddy Wilson, at a video store—a meeting that blossomed into a lasting love. They married in 2005 in Lake Worth, Texas, and spent the years that followed making memories filled with laughter, music, and warmth.
Linda was the best mom anyone could ask for to her children, and she was an even more extraordinary Nana to her grandchildren. Never call her Grandma—Linda was always just Nana. She was actively involved in her grandkids' lives, cherishing every moment with them, whether it was sharing stories, attending events, or simply enjoying a meal together.
She was a talented cook and a gifted baker, with homemade biscuits and cakes that became family favorites. Her green thumb was well-known—her garden wasn't just a hobby, it was a cherished part of her and her children's daily lives. Linda took pride in growing fresh produce and using it to prepare meals from the heart.
Family was everything to Linda. She gave her time, love, and care freely, always choosing to be with her family whenever possible. She was a devoted daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, Nana, and friend.
Linda had a lifelong love for Elvis Presley and classic Oldies and soft rock. Her daughter Jamie fondly remembers the large portrait of Elvis hanging in their home, and his music was always playing. Linda's style was eclectic and full of charm, especially her passion for rooster decorations—her kitchen and home were adorned with more than 100 rooster figurines and collectibles.
Christmas was one of Linda's favorite times of the year, not for the turkey or savory dishes, but for the sweets and pastries. If it were up to her, dessert would've been the whole meal.
Linda is survived by her loving husband Buddy Wilson; her daughter Jamie McPhearson and husband Greg; her son Stanley Byrd and spouse Shea; her son Cody Wilson; and her daughter Felicia Wheelock and husband Chris. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Josh Bobo, Devon Bobo, Melanie Mosier, Gage Marbut, Jaydan McPhearson, and Berkley Wheelock.
She leaves behind her siblings Grady Jones, Dolly Williams, Jesse Welford, Jay Malone, and Sallie Holifield; her dear cousin Sherry Williams-Moore; and many beloved extended friends and family.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Zelline Malone; her daughter, Star Tina Byrd; and her siblings G.W. Malone, Leroy Malone, and Edward Malone.
A visitation will be held on August 7, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home.
