Obituary

In Loving Memory of Kenneth K. Kuykendall

1954 - 2024

Kenneth K. "Ken" Kuykendall, 69, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 surrounded by his family and friends.

Ken was the youngest of three born on April 6, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas to Batis "Bud" W. Kuykendall and Madeline J. Kuykendall.

In High School Ken enjoyed playing trumpet in the Richland High School marching band; he graduated in 1972.

After retiring in 2010 from AT&T as a Cable Splicer he continued pursuing his love of music as he played guitar weekly with his childhood friend of 63 years.  In 2009 he participated in the Guinness World Records at the "largest guitar ensemble of pickers''.  He loved traveling across the United States on his Harley, exploring places like Anchorage Alaska, Deadwood  South Dakota, Silverton Colorado and Big Bend National Park.

He was the true definition of an "introvert" but his heart loved his daughter, grandchildren and great grands so much. He never turned down an invitation to attend his grandchildren's tennis matches, football games, choir/theater performances, random lunch invites, birthday, graduation, or holiday gatherings. He will be greatly missed.

Ken is preceded in death by the love of his life, Kathryn L. Joseph and his parents Batis W. Kuykendall and Madeline J. Kuykendall.

Survivors: Daughter, Christy Carlson (Jerry) of Poolville, Texas; grandchildren, Reighley Baugh, (Graham) of Rhome, Texas, Gentry Carlson of Poolville and two great-grandchildren Henry James and Benjamin Hayes. Ken's brother, Buddy W. Kuykendall (Valerie), Sister, Chere Kuykendall Leach of Haltom City, Texas. Nieces and nephews Maegen E. (Kuykendall) Bearden of Midlothian, Texas, Mallorie A. (Kuykendall) Copeland of Terrell, Texas, Matthew L. Kuykendall (Jamie) of Venus, Texas and Michael Leach of Topeka, Kansas. His closest friends Jim Brown and Chris Whatley.
