Kathleen Elizabeth Nabors
February 24, 1962 – February 14, 2025

Kathleen Elizabeth Nabors, born Kathleen Elizabeth "Kathy" Roberts on February 24, 1962, in Ada, Oklahoma, passed away on February 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience. She was the cherished daughter of Grady Neal Roberts and Billie Jo Tipton-Roberts, and the beloved sister to her brother, Monty.

Kathleen's early life was marked by the warmth of a close-knit family. Her parents, both dedicated schoolteachers, provided a home filled with love, learning, and care. Growing up in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Kathy was surrounded by a community that nourished her values and spirit. Raised in the Baptist Church, she was baptized at College Heights Baptist Church in Chickasha, where she developed a strong faith that would guide her throughout her life. Kathy's childhood was enriched with the unwavering attention of her parents, and the support of her brother Monty, who grew up alongside her as a constant companion.

Her formative years were spent attending Chickasha and Ninnekah schools, before graduating in 1981 from Verden High School in Verden, Oklahoma. At Verden, Kathy flourished as a high school cheerleader, a role that allowed her to shine as a bright and energetic young woman. After high school, Kathy pursued her passion for beauty and self-expression by obtaining her cosmetology license from the Fort Cobb Vo-Tech School.

It was at the Saddle Club Dancehall that Kathy's life would change forever when she met the love of her life, John Nabors. Their connection was instant, and their whirlwind romance led them to marry on June 25, 1983, in Chickasha. The bond between Kathy and John was a rare and beautiful one. Their communication, though unconventional to outsiders, was an unspoken understanding, a perfect symbiosis of souls. John, steadfast and devoted, was Kathy's rock, and she, in turn, was his greatest treasure. Their love was one of the purest forms of partnership.

In the years that followed, Kathy and John were blessed with a son, Bryan, who became the center of their world. Through the ups and downs, Kathy poured all of her love into her family. She found joy in the simplest of moments, whether it was making Christmas stockings for her loved ones, canning vegetables from their farm, or cooking for her family. Even in the face of a devastating tornado accident that left Kathy partially paralyzed and reliant on a wheelchair, her strength, grace, and love never wavered.

Though Kathy faced physical challenges, she continued to be a vital force in the lives of those around her. She was always by her family's side, encouraging and supporting them in everything they did. Kathy was not only a loving wife and mother but a constant student of life. She took the time to understand the ins and outs of her husband's farm work and cherished every moment spent together. Her cooking, especially her chicken fried steak steaks and peach cobbler, became legendary in her family.

Kathy's heart was as big as her sense of humor. She found joy in the small things, laughing wholeheartedly at the world around her—even at times when the humor was only understood by those who knew her well. She and Bryan shared countless moments of laughter, particularly when it came to their love of video games. Bryan would come home from school, and the two would spend hours playing Grand Theft Auto together. It was one of the few games Kathy could manage to play, but more than that, it was a way for her to connect with her son. Even after Bryan started working at a casino, Kathy developed an interest in the industry—not for gambling, but as a means to stay close to her son and share in his world.

Kathy also had a deep love for animals, particularly her dogs and cats, who were her loyal companions. And in keeping with her love for finding treasures, Kathy was a frequent visitor to garage sales. She would hunt for hidden gems, often dragging Bryan along, much to his chagrin. The playful back-and-forth between mother and son over these outings became a running joke, one of many fond memories that will live on in her family's hearts.

Kathy's love for family was boundless. She was a devoted wife to John, a proud mother to Bryan, and a cherished sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her husband, John Nabors; her son, Bryan, and his spouse, Ronnie Checotah; her brother, Monty Roberts and his wife, Brenda; her brother-in-law, Ray Nabors, and his wife, Gina; her sister-in-law, JoAnn Chain, and her husband, Leroy; as well as several nieces, nephews, and countless extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady Neal and Billie Jo Roberts, and her grandparents, Ray Ellsworth Tipton and Jo Lee Tipton and Jean Marie and Kenneth Oliver.

Kathy's funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Sevier Funeral Home in Chickasha, Oklahoma, followed by an interment at Fairlawn Cemetery.

Kathy's life was one of unwavering love, unshakable faith, and boundless strength. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
