Karen June Welch
February 1, 1939-April 19, 2026
Karen was born February 1st, 1939 in Seymour to J. T. Dowis and Neoma Battles. She grew up in Ft. Worth and was baptized in the Baptist church as a child. She married Johnny Welch on August 31, 1967 in Ft. Worth. They moved to Springtown in 1974 where they raised 3 children. She was a homemaker for many years after being employed in various occupations throughout her life with cooking for people being her favorite one.
Karen was always ready with a crocheted baby blanket, handmade teddy bear or doll anytime a baby was born. She spent many hours sitting with family members who were experiencing failing health. After the loss of Johnny in 2017, her daughter Elizabeth became her closest companion. During her last years, she enjoyed her puzzle books, walks in the park and caring for her cats.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, daughter Carol Burleson, brothers Chloe Dowis and Kenneth Dowis, sisters Charlotte Nansteal, Linda Kendrick, Mary Dilldine and Bettie Sallee and grandson, Kevin Hulsey.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Hulsey, son, James Hulsey and wife Janice, grandsons Johnny Cox, Dusty Huber, Kyle Huber, Clint Hulsey and Daniel Hulsey with wife Kayla, 6 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, sister Sandra Windham and brother Doug Dowis.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 22 at 11AM at Azleland Memorial Park. Karen's family would love to see all of her friends and loved ones present to celebrate her life.
