Joyce Kaye Smith, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 79. Born on August 20, 1946, in San Angelo, TX, Joyce (Kaye) was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. Her passion for family was unparalleled, and she cherished every moment spent with her husband, Obrey Smith, and raising her four children: She also took immense joy in the laughter and love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Kaye was known for her cooking skills, especially baking, which brought warmth to every family gathering. Her love for gardening and tending to her flower beds reflected her nurturing spirit. A devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church, she found joy in her faith and community, and she loved Jesus with all her heart. Kaye also loved playing Bingo and trying her luck at the slot machines with her husband, Obrey when he was alive.
Throughout her life, she never met a stranger. Her kindness and warmth made her a mother figure to many, as she willingly shared her love and wisdom with those around her. From attending sports events to celebrating life's milestones, Kaye's (Grandma's ) legacy of love and laughter will forever be remembered.
A visitation will be held on May 21, 2026, at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home at 6:00 PM. The funeral service will take place at New Hope Baptist Church on May 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Azleland Memorial Park at 11:30 AM. Joyce will be laid to rest, surrounded by the love she so deeply nurtured in her lifetime. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Kaye was preceded in death by her husband of almost 52 years, Obrey Smith, son, Ricky Smith, her mother, Marjorie Parker, , and her father, Cecil (CC) Parker.
She is survived by three of her children, Tereasa Mathis of Poolville, Bobby Smith of Azle, and Sheila Davis of Springtown, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and numerous family members and freinds.
